Xbox Play Anywhere Without Xbox?

This question is never answered.

Do I need to own an Xbox to play the game on my PC? I don't have an Xbox but want to play Forza.

Xbox anywhere play without Owing an Xbox

Facts:

1. I do not own a Xbox One, S, X etc. and neither Intend on buying it

2. I already have an XBOX live account with free subscription.

3. I have a power enough PC

4. I want to play Gears of War 4 on my PC which supports ANywhere play

5. THe problem

i) Price quoted for PC version on MS store is three times the price of XBox version available on Amazon.

ii) I searched online to find a physical copy of game (PC) but it is not available.

iii) I found XBox One physical copy on websites which says Anywhere play is possible.

Question:

If I buy the Xbox One copy of the game (without actually owning the Console Hardware) can I still play it on my PC.

CAUTION: I am not asking if PC has the ability to read the Disc, my question is will I get some download code with the disc for PC or somehow able to register the purchase with my Xbox live account without actually having Xbox hardware?

I want to play the game on my PC without buying the console. But buying the Xbox physical copy of GOW4, simply to save money.

 

Xbox anywhere play without Owing an Xbox

Play Anywhere is only available for digital copies. So if you purchase a physical disc it will only work on an Xbox One.

 

For "Xbox Play Anywhere", you can purchase a "Play Anywhere" game on either the Xbox Store or the Windows Store. Keep in mind that this only applies to digital download purchases.

You don't necessarily need an Xbox One to own a "Play Anywhere" title. If you are just using a computer, you will only need to make sure it's running Windows 10 (with the Anniversary Update).

"Play Anywhere" will give you the option to run the same game on the Xbox One, if you ever decide to get an Xbox One later on. All game progress/achievements are carried between platforms via your Microsoft Account.

You're talking about a Microsoft account, but this one is free right?

 

You need an Xbox Live account, though you only need a free "silver" account. You do not need a subscription to play online on the PC version.
