You don't need to they don't have the performance of a high end card and don't command the price tag associated with it, some of the high end cards have more performance on a single card than my pair.

My cards are mid range your cards are mid range, get over it.

I actually googled top GPU's 2016 and my GPU came up as being one of the best. Found an article dated in April 26, 2016 on tomshardware.com subject best graphics cards (2016) this year (article less than 60 days old) or top GPU's and the Sapphire AMD R9
390 is one of them. Also AMD only released the R9 390 in June 18 2015, 12 months ago. So there is strong belief that these are more than just mid range cards. Maybe more will stop calling it high end after this year.

Back to the topic of this thread, by the time they release this 6kGFLops thingy console, there will probably be PC's out there with 12kGFlops or roughly around that. I think the new GTX 1080 already does just over 8kGFLops And you can hook up desktop PC's
to your HDTV just like your Xbox console, and use a controller rather than keyboard.

I agree with this comment brought out on page 1 of this thread...

"Well for 1, consoles are cheaper and are way more user friendly so there's that. No messing with settings and having crashes and updating drivers and whatever other headache comes with PC gaming."

Adding by me: with genuine Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 consoles, they also don't get viruses, genuine reports of such have been negligible. And with the condition which the Internet Infrastructure is today, you don't need to do naughty things to get a virus.

Reasons why people may still prefer consoles, is because you don't have to worry about spyware/malware/viruses, it's user friendly and cheaper than a high end gaming rig. No messing with settings and having crashes and updating drivers and whatever other
headache comes with PC gaming. And adults may have jobs where they work in front of PC's that when they get home, they don't want to look at a PC no more lol. An advantage with PC is people may opt to get ones with SSD's. Xbox 1 is STILL using ancient obsolete
5400rpm HDD's which load stuff way more slower than an SSD. But then many laptops and smartphones (depends which one you have) may not have the oomph to run high end games. But I have to say the Xbox app works well on my HP 15' white laptop with i5-6200u and
8GB DDR3 RAM. And you can check voice messages on this site too which is great. I think it's a great idea that they're trying to role out the Xbox service on more devices. Last year I got heaps of voice messages (I have full Xbox 360 friends list) and it was
annoying to get voice message alert on smartglass and be unable to check it, half of them were from Message To All Friends And Recent Players.

My custom desktop also has 16GB HyperX RAM and my games never use of 7.5GB of that RAM. Speaking of HyperX, I seem to be the most Hyper person on this forum at this time. It's Saturday 1:47 am NZT for me the weekend wooo. But I'm off to get some sleep.

    I was thinking about something.....

Even if Scorpio is a year and half away,do all (future) games will runs at native 4k.

Because this is the main argument coming from Windows 10 team.

And i'm really not sure if it will be possible and if all devs will be able to do it.

We saw this current gen that not all games runs at native 1080p (whatever the console).

    And i can't imagine a 4k MMO for example.

Dice can't make native 1080p Battlefield on current gen and with a 4.5 time more powerful hardware, can they make native 4k Battlefield, not so sure.

Maybe Microsoft studios will but not really sure if 3rd party devs/publishers will do it.

I'm maybe wrong but native 4k on Scorpio reminds me,native 1080p console this gen.

    PR bs or reality ?

With a console, I just grab the controller, and everything I need to play is in my hands.

Had a P.C. hooked up in the living room, while it's true you can sit back on a La-Z-Boy and play games relativity easy...it's just sucks trying to use it for work, or for games that require using a keyboard and mouse in the same chair; back in the office
    it went.

Suppose I could just build a dedicated P.C. for the living room, but why? Consoles are cheap and I don't have to put in any legwork looking parts.

    Peace, J.R.

Yeah I can see now where D33dles is coming from. Plugging in a powerful Gaming PC in the big living room TV doesn't work so well if you want to play a PC game that requires a keyboard and mouse, like a turn based strategy game.

My situation is different. My PC is hooked up to the TV in the bedroom. My PC desk easily accommodates my 32" HDTV. The PC sits to the side of the desk, the Xbox One sits on the level underneath and the PS4 is next to my Wireless Printer. The keyboard the
mouse are on a pull out tray. You can't exactly do this in the living room, not unless you're going to use two TV's.

  9. I want to respond to a few things in this. And yes, I build PCs all the time for people. And I actually keep up with the latest hardware although I do not like to let people know that. So,

"I have both a PC and XBox. So i think I'm qualified to explain why after 10+ years of owning/building PC's I bought an XBox and how it's so great. And why *both* are essential for me. But you're not me. so .."

It is true that most people have their preferences, needs, and just general feeling about this stuff. That is why it is hard to completely recommend something for everybody overall and other factors must be considered.

"If you feel like you should buy a PC, then you probably should. It's that simple. Seriously. PC is a superior gaming platform to console."

Currently this is absolutely true. No real issues with PC gaming like there used to be.

"But a console has it's place. It's a much more convenient computer to have in your living room. Trust me, PC's tethered to the TV have some issues."

I cannot agree with that. I actually use a 4k TV as a monitor for content creation and stuff. Not one issue. Just hook it up and go. And it works quickly and is fine for Hulu, Amazon Video, Netflix, and gaming. No issues. Even my wife can use it simply
and she is far from what you would call "tech-y" or any such thing. In fact, I put a PC together for my mother to use as a media center for her steaming, dvd, blu ray, etc. and she uses it fine without issue (and she is in her 70's).

"It's just not a great experience especially if you have to move it around."

Big benefit for consoles. Although the the PC I build for my mother is small and easy to use. The case makes it simple. And it will game as good as the PS4/One. My nephew has used it to great results.

"Consoles replace your set-top box + tvtuner + dvdplayer + smart TV and offer a one stop shop for all your living room digital needs, it's the first time i've had a cohesive experience in the living room for games and media. PC can't provide that in the
    same way."

This is a huge benefit to consoles and I agree. Especially something like the Xbox One S with the 4k blu ray support.

"Regarding exclusives .. yes, you can play xbox exclusives on PC, but so what ... PC gamers have always had 10x more choice, superior performance, more peripherals, and more customization. To a PC gamer .. the fact that consoles have exclusives .. well we
don't really care. Sorry console owners but it's the truth. "

I disagree. As a life long PC gamer and with many friends who grew up playing on PC (consoles as well) we tend to game. No matter what platform we have to buy. We can afford PC and consoles. At least for most or all of the PC gamers I know. This leads
to an issue. I love the Xbox and Live. Favorite platform, to be honest, just for the gaming. Still love PC for mods and things. So with all future exclusives coming to PC from Xbox I will be PC only at that point in terms of Xbox. And console gaming will
be NX and PS4 for those exclusives. Would I buy and NX or use PS4 without exclusives? No. And I have had this discussion with others. Including some gamers that are console gamers that have, in the past, been PC gamers. Most agree that exclusives can
    help a console.

Not attacking the Xbox. But, if you are one of the sizable group of gamers that PC/Console game. You could skip the Xbox console completely and still play those games. I know that I have purchased games, as well as others I know, on the One because I
have the console already and the game was a few $$ cheaper on that platform. Same with the PS4 a few times.

"So exclusives as a concept is just a marketing tool, it means very little in the real world."

It means a bit to more people than you want to admit or realize or maybe both. I know that a lot of the people I know that where 360 only gamers saw that MS was missing out on some games. That added to the constant talk of 3rd party games running better
on the competition they moved. Same with quite a few of my 3 oldest sons friends.

"Now we will will get PC+XBox exclusive. For me that's great."

I agree. I thought and still think this is great. I can now play those games on my PC. I am getting an Xbox One S for my wife to play on and 4k blu ray. But I can stick with PC and use my other devices. And it should mean no need to buy a Scorpio. Any
exclusive Scorpio games ever happen that we want and I will make sure we have a PC set up in the living room for her to play those on. Really hope cross buy becomes a thing on all games sold on Xbox/Windows store too.

"In fact, my view of things, with shared exclusives, I now have even greater reason to own an xbox + pc because it's even more of a shared ecosystem. That's really great."

I think this is a big thing. I many not see the reason for an Xbox as this stuff roles on. But you know there are many who will stick with consoles. So, you at least have a solid install base to play together. And it also raises sales numbers for games.
And I, and most gamers maybe, may not care about sales but those numbers determine business decisions and can mean the difference between getting a game on the platform or not at all. Harder to miss a platform that has solid sales. But, Windows Store needs
big improvements (I own games that refuse to download sometimes and just fail and this has been going on through the official launch and subsequent preview builds) and much more big games content. Cross buy needs to be a thing for the whole platform and something
that all games work with really.

Really, this can be a great thing. But they have to make it work correctly from the jump. No "this game could not download/install" with an error code happening on a regular basis. Streamlined store with a section for the big games. That way people do
not have to wade through "pimple popper" or "dress up dolly" to find Gears of War 4 or the likes.

They should be able to get it there. If the specs are where they say. Will it be with all setting on high? No way. But it will still look much better in 4k. If graphics is your thing. I run 4k on my GPU and it is old. Had the Division running at 4k/30
solid. But had to turn stuff down. Still was much better than current consoles. So I could see this working and it could give that next gen. feel to people that some seem to lack currently.

It's the best of both worlds for me. I work away and overnight a lot. I'll have my Xbox at home hooked up to the big telly. With play anywhere I get the games I enjoy like Gears 4 and I can play them on my laptop in my hotel at night without having to haul
    an Xbox around.

I will never have a PC hooked up to the TV, it's more convenient to have an Xbox. If a player wants the very best in graphics etc, they should buy a PC. Almost every game I have played on Xbox One look great, 1080 at 60 or not. You only have to look at Ryse
and you know what I mean.

For me, console for gaming, laptop for work with the ability to chill with my favorite games,,, win win.

  12. Not everyone can afford or cares to have a high end gaming PC... but for those that can and do (like myself), this is great news! I've already invested in the console, but I'm still going to upgrade to the S purely for the UHD Blu-Ray player.

    @Jambofirstblood.

Sorry, you are incorrect. The Sapphire Nitro AMD Radeon R9 390 is not mediocore. It is officially HIGH END. Just google it. Notebookcheck says the GTX 970 is high end, but GPUBoss says the R9 390 is better than the GTX 970. The R9 390 has a high bandwidth
of 384GB/s. Sure it's not the best GPU, but it still is considered high end. My GPU is the Sapphire version which has the overclocked version of the R9 390. Also if you visit Intel's website go to 6th gen i7 processors ARK under 6700k page, there is a link
to Product Brief. It clearly states the 6700k is Intel's flagship processor. So it is not obsolete.

"@Vamp you can buy a PC but you will be chasing that perfection of hardware in no time." - RippenHarra

The only perfection I chase involves footwear. lol

I actually have 4 PC's at the moment. I don't think I'll have any problems running Xbox games on them and if I did, I would just buy another PC. That's what I do. If I want it... I get it.

I'm just really starting to think consoles are a waste of money. I expect the Scorpio to be behind in power when it finally comes out anyways.

My main point on this thread is I no longer really need to keep messing with a console when I can get so much more from a PC. It's just my opinion. Just call me kwazy. lol

I still don't see how this would be a problem though Mogwai. It won't have much of an effect on console sales. These games will need high end PC's to run them, its not like they'll work on any computer.

Some of us already own the same games on several systems. And not all games will be 'Play Anywhere', it will only be the Microsoft published titles and any other publishers that join in. Most PC games will still be on Steam, Origin, Ubi-Soft. This program
isn't going to kill the Xbox One.
