Xbox Play Anywhere digital codes with physical purchase

Hey there guys, I was just wondering about an idea I had. For those of us who do own an Xbox One and a gaming PC, how would people feel if when you bought a physical copy of a game (whether it be PC or Xbox One), you would also receive a digital code for
the other system? So let's say you purchase a PC game that is Xbox Play Anywhere activated physically but have friends on Xbox One that also play, then all you would have to do is redeem the code for the Xbox One version. This would also work if you bought
a physical Xbox One copy of the game, where the code would be for the PC version. It's not like Microsoft would lose any money in this since if you purchase a game digitally that is Xbox Play Anywhere activated you do get them both on PC and on Xbox One. This
just allows for those who do not wish to purchase games online to still enjoy the feature of Xbox Play Anywhere.

Just a thought I had that I wanted to share and see if anyone else agrees or disagrees with me.

The only problem I see with this is the potential for abuse of the system, eg someone could sell off the code, a better solution is to have a game pared this other accounts Xbox live with windows live.

 

In practice, it is a good idea and I am sure that many people, including myself, would love to see happen.

However, It won't happen as the Xbox Play Anywhere scheme is an incentive to get people to purchase their games digitally from the Xbox One store as Microsoft will receive more of the profits.

 

I don't know about the feasibility of this happening as the code could easily be redeemed by someone else, i.e. creating the possibility that you sell your code, or keep the game digitally and return the physical game, thereby reducing sales, while the current
Play Anywhere system ties both versions of the game to your actual account.

However, that doesn't mean it could not happen, and if it's something you would want to see you should submit the idea to Xbox Feedback, the suggestions site read by the engineering team and used to gauge interest in ideas and features:
