Xbox placement

It depends on your router and the environment it is in. If your router is downstairs, and your Xbox is upstairs. Normally it can connect, as the waves pass through the walls. However, if you have thick walls, like in an old Victorian house, then the waves can't pass through the walls (as they get absorbed). Thus, signal can't reach the router.

You could give it a try and see if it works. You can test multiplayer connection by going to Setting > Network > Test Xbox Live connection.

I think you have to turn off random ordnance or something in the gametype options, can't remember exactly.

umm Im pretty sure you can put a weapon on the ground.

I have had various freezing issues with my 360, but most seemed to happen when the console was laying down on its side. My theory is that while it is standing the most area is open to remain cool. I've also installed one of the cooling fans on the side AND
I have a small fan pointed at the console.

Then again I have several friends who do lay their consoles down on its side and haven't had a single issue. Like everyone else has said... there are pros and cons to each way.
