    Xbox Permission Issue


    Hi,

    We bought Sims 4 for our daughter. its above her age restrictions but we are happy to give her permission to play it. However when she tries to play it is asks for permission. I select my parent account and put in my passkey but then it just spins a wheel
    for ages until eventually it just returns to the Xmox home screen. I've had to temporarily change her permissions to 16+ which I'm not happy to be doing but can't see any other way around it. Any ideas on how to get the permission to actually work.

    HI, Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately changing her permissions is not the issue. I have easily done that bu changing her content restrictions to 16+. Unfortunately this does not resolve my problem. I want to keep the contact restrictions at 8+ but
    when she opens up the game, it asks for parent permission,. When I provide that permission, the xbox spining wheel just keeps on spinning for ages and does not work.

    You should change the privacy setting for your child account through your parent account.

    • Sign in to the Xbox settings page with the parent’s Microsoft account. You may be asked to verify that you're the account owner.
      If you're having issues signing in to a Microsoft account, go to
      Microsoft account help      .
    • Choose the gamertag for your child's account. If you want to update the privacy and online safety settings for the parent or adult account, choose that gamertag instead.
    • Select theXbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety
      tab or the Privacy tab, review the settings currently in place and then update those you want to change.
    • Select Save before leaving or switching to another tab. If you don't save the changes before you move to the other tab, your changes won't be saved.
    • Have your child sign in and sign out of their account to make the changes take effect.

    Dear jasperash.

    If you're having trouble changing your privacy and online safety settings on your Xbox One console, check to make sure you've done the following:

    log in into your xbox account

    https://account.xbox.com/en-us/Settings?rtc=1&wa=wsignin1.0&activetab=main:privacytab

    Click on your daughter profile and change her permissions.

    You will see three options:

    1. Privacy
    2. Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety
    3. Xbox 360 Online Safety
    Configure as you need, save, restart your xbox, and log in with your daughter's account.

    This procedure should solulate the problem.

    Hi, as that game is published by EA it may be their age restriction policy that is the issue. I believe their policy prohibits anyone under 13 years of age from playing EA games online.

    EA base the age on the birthdate that was set when the Xbox account was created and that cannot be changed.

    I have already done that to resolve a permission issue with minecraft several weeks ago, I only encounter this permission issue with my xbox account, not the overarching microsoft account.
