  1. Xbox Pendrive (USB Storage)

First of all, I know that for games install Xbox requires 256GB+/USB 3.0 devices. But I would like to suggest the minimum space should be decreased to 128GB for game install. In my specific case it´s frustrating I have a USB 3.0 128GB sandisk nano pedrive
which I could use for installing some of my xbox 360 games (since my storage is full, but thats not the point here) and I cannot since xbox allows 256gb at least.

Maybe the could think about it. Just saying.

    :)

  3. Moving data from USB to PC and back

    Hello

Firstly i want to apologise for my bad English. That's not my first language and I'm trying my best.

So let me get to the problem.I've propably done a really stupid thing. I had to use a usb memory to transfer some data from PC to PC but only available one was the one i used as a storage of my game files in my console. I pluged usb memory to PC, copied
all data from USB to my PC's HDD and deleted data from USB. When my USB memory was ready to be storage of my Xbox data again I found out that files I copied as backup wasn't working on my console. After I put files back on the pendrive Xbox doesn't recognize
my profile and save data. It sees Pendrive as a unrecognized storage device and asks me if I want it to be formated.I figured that what I first thought as a well made backup was in fact a terrible mistake.

Is there a way to make my profile and save data useful again from files I copied to my HDD? Please help.

Honestly, once the flash drive has been formatted and system files added to it, you would barely be able to fit 1 Xbox One game on it anyway.

  6. As I mentioned, I would use for Xbox 360 games only. So we are talking about what? 10GB per game? more or less... so I think my suggestion can be still reasonable.

    Hi,

I think access and read/write speed is the reason why Xbox One doesn't support Flash storage for Xbox One. Not all Flash drives are created equal. If small flash storage was usable for games on the Xbox One, consumers would try to use any old cheap storage
for games. This could cause seriously long loading times, pauses, skipping and such. Even when Flash drives were supported on the Xbox 360, that console had to do a quick test of the storage to see if it meets the minimum requirements.

Now, technically speaking, If Flash drives were able to be used on Xbox One, and, if you used the correct type of storage device, you could play any game from a Flash drive on Xbox One - You can see videos of PC games running from USB Flash drives on YouTube.

The problem is, the Xbox One isn't a PC and most users aren't technical with these kinds of things. So, to insure a less troublesome process, Microsoft went with external USB 3 HDD's and SSD's only. Probably because 99% of these
drives meet the speed requirements of Xbox One. Capacity isn't the issue, speed and reliability is.

as obsessive mentioned it's not.just.about storage

    Also dhould.be mentioned

USB drives aren't meant for constant writing and erssing

The More you use a usb drive the more it degrades

Same with a SSD or HDD it just takes much longer to happen on a HDD or SSD not to mention speed and reliability

USB pen drives aren't meant for long term storage

They are onLy reliable for 5 years on occasional storage

For.constant HDD storage expect less then a year

You can actually check that the stats online

HDD tend to last 5 years on PC and it depends

More recent years HDD last longer but however USB pen or solid state drives have never changed in life expectancy

Each time you write and erase you are constantly changing the physical properties of the wafer because it's such a small wafer you don't have much surface to wear down

    Hence the shorter life

HDDa tend to spread it over time on multiple spindles

Consoles and PC's tend to write and read alot

  10. Well the point here is that you can use USB 3.0+ 256Gb+ Pendrives to install things on xone. Discussion is not about if it is recommended to do or not, neither why choose a pendrive in order to a SSD or HDD plugged in the USB. If we start pending the discussion
for whats is right and whats isn´t, we will end speaking about why xone internal HDD is not meant to be replaced by the user or why the games (specially on X) are so big in size and the HDD is still 1TB (scorpion version here).

Microsoft for example wants you to join game pass with a long list of games, and the space to install them? A 1TB disk with about to 780GB usable from fresh start? I really hope that in future my Sandisk Ultra 3.1 128GB could be used for at least, my 360
    retro games.

  11. For the cost of two 128GB flash drives, you could buy a 1TB external hard drive. Seems like a 'no brainer' to me.

  12. I know that. Of course if we talk about "buy", an external drive is the best choice.

Using a regular 128GB flash drive would give you probably worse performance than the internal hard drive due to how they work. It would probably be so slow you couldn't stand it.

A hard drive or SSD is what you need and the 256GB minimum is designed to make you get a hard drive and not use flash storage, because they know that those small devices don't have the random read speed needed to play games on.

you are completely missing the point

As.we.all mentioned USB pen drivrs.arent meant for hd storage

    First and foremost.they fail.reliability test.

And no.usbs drives.arent all created equal

Also in order to use it on xbox one you must pass the windows. Fast boot test

And yes there is a chunk of the hd that xbox one uses os and what not.

Hence the compatibility test also you have to remember when you have storage of any sort you lose 10% by default because of the math

    10 gigs isn't 10gigs

It would be 1024mb by 9 something till it hits near 10 gigs

Like a pc you also have to have caching space

    Hence the requirements

You have to have enough cache and reserve space to ensure.the hd doesn't fill up degrades the preformance
