    Hi everyone

    I’ve just got a steam deck and followed the instructions on the Microsoft site to access Xbox cloud gaming which is all fine.

    I’ve logged into my Microsoft account (I have Xbox pc game pass) but it won’t let me install any of the games

    It keeps telling to either play with Ultimate, or the one time I did get the install button it directed me to a help page but didn’t really offer any advice.

    Yeah, i expect that WILL happen just when is the question. Because a game sold is a game sold so they make money regardless.

    Only gamepass ultimate works with steam deck

    Unless you install Windows 10

    Steam.os cannot install games because from gamepass games are windows based

    Only cloud gaming is supported unless you install Windows 10
    actually, the steam deck uses proton to run windows programs. you CAN install windows games on it without windows 10 and they run quite well. In fact, that's the selling point: many of the games that steamdeck runs are the windows versions. There are guides all over the internet for getting everything from EA play, to Gamepass, to GOG, etc running on the steamdeck to play the windows native games on the steamdeck.

    the only drawback currently is that anti cheat has not finalised there side and not flicked the switch to support proton, but that is coming soon and then most if not all pc games will play fine on the deck, apart from EA games they are being a bit dubious and will ban anyone trying too.

    Since it's using the cloud, you need a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Regular PC Game Pass does not include cloud gaming.
