Xbox PC beta app- freezes on install button when i download the installer, or just stays on...

I recommend trying to use the
Xbox (beta) app installer
instead of trying to install it from the Microsoft Store. Also try clearing the Microsoft Store cache:

Step 1: Clear the Windows Store cache.

1. On the Cortana search box, enter "cmd"
   
2. Right-click on Command Prompt, then select Run as administrator.
   
3. Type wsreset.exe, and hit Enter key.

I'm sorry to hear those steps did not work for you. You may need to re-install the Microsoft Store app and other Windows apps using PowerShell. Try the following steps:

a: Press Windows key and search for PowerShell.

b: Then right click PowerShell and Run as admin.

c: Now type the following command and hit enter

Get-AppxPackage *windowsstore* | Remove-AppxPackage

Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

After a restart, enter the following command (again in a PowerShell as admin):

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

This will install any missing built-in apps you may have uninstalled. Let us know if this helps!

Ah ha. That works.

No, I had been trying the Xbox (beta) installer here: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass/pc-games/ - when you hit "Get Started" it gives you the download
the app which downloads an installer. When I clicked install it just hung (probably because some remnant of the app was installed).

The direct download you provided works - it updated the app and everything showed up. thx!
