XBOX pc app not working right? --FIXED MYSELF.

Random, games are having issues. all installed to the same external 2gb drive formatted for use by the xbox windows program. They were all working yesterday. Didn't change anything. ran the windows update it requested to update. uh..

was getting errors that it couldnt start and the device wasn't connected.. that error went away. now they just wont start at all. went to gears 5 in the windows store.. said it needs to be reinstalled to address an unknown error.. I click reinstall, select
the drive, and it just goes to the same page saying to reinstall it.

Does nothing. fixes nothing. Can't seem to solve the problem.. have almost 2tb in games installed.. so.. uh.. help? i only get 1tb a month quota..

Fixed this myself. I had windows locked down on updates and automatic changes, and apparently the necessary update to xbox app never got installed, but the xbox app decided to **** itself and start breaking all my content, rather than just telling me that.
GG guys. Probably would be a good idea to have the app check for necessary updates, and the permission to install them. The fact that i just kept getting "this app could not start, see in the store for details" and blah blah.

Had to reinstall gears 5, because i tried to repair it while the app was still messed up.. then it just never would repair right.. the rest of my games were fine.

Anyone else having this issue, or something similar, a telltale sign was that some of my games were acting like they would start.. weren't.. but if i let it sit for 10-15 minutes, for some odd reason they would then start up just fine. LOL. Broken as hell.
Anyhow. Updated the app, everything is fine now.. aside from another 80gb gears 5 install.

I also had this issue before. I unfortunately had to reformat my PC and start over. I originally upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, so possibly a lot of messed up files and configs.

I'm also having an issue with both the store and the xbox pc app. I've been subscribed to game pass the last 3 months. Tried downloading subnautica earlier and got disconnected from the internet. The install got corrupted half way through, so i uninstalled
it and reinstalled it (although xbox app did not delete any files), and it eventually reinstalled. Went to run it and the loading screen started, then the game crashed out after it was tied to my account (did the verification thing), and then I was getting
a disk read error.

Uninstalled it again, and now both the windows store AND the xbox pc app refuse to acknowledge my subscription, and instead show the "this game is included with xbox game pass" button instead of the install button, and clicking it takes me to the "join up"
screen, despite being logged into both with my MS account.

Yeah, that's up to Microsoft. This issue was caused by a problem on their end, which they recognised and addressed on twitter.
