    Xbox PC App Issue

When installing windows 11 I had to reinstall xbox pc app. It did not recognise games installed on my d: and e: game drives. When I reinstalled the games I have a lot less hdd space for my games. I suspect that the original files are still there and not picked up by the game pass.

    1. How can I identify which directories are which games and

    2. How to delete the locked directories/files.

    Regards,

    David

Issue with Xbox App on PC

    Hello DerpyHippoz,

Thank you for your reply and update.

Can you recall performing any troubleshooting steps related to registry?

There will be a fit troubleshooting for this that will require you to do extensive back up of files and preferred settings. However, we may still isolate the issue by using local user profile in your Windows device. If this issue is being localized by this specific user profile or your computer needs reinstallation.

Kindly create a local user profile:

    Create a local user account

    1. Select Start > Settings > Accounts and then select Family & other users. (In some versions of Windows you'll see Other users.)
    2. Next to Add other user, select Add account.
    3. Select I don't have this person's sign-in information, and on the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
    4. Enter a user name, password, or password hint—or choose security questions—and then select Next. Open Settings and create another account

Next is to change a local user account to an administrator account so you can launch and play games.
    5. Select Start > Settings > Accounts .
    6. Under Family & other users, select the account owner name (you should see "Local account" below the name), then select Change account type.

Note: If you choose an account that shows an email address or doesn't say "Local account", then you're giving administrator permissions to a Microsoft account, not a local account.
    7. Under Account type, select Administrator, and then select OK.
    8. Sign in with the new administrator account.

Source: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support

Followed by launching of Microsoft Store and sign into your account. Kindly set it to sign into this app only.

Try to check if the Xbox app will launch without being stuck on Xbox logo.

If you were not stuck, try to sign into your account and set it to sign into this app only too (if prompted).

We look forward for your reply.

    xbox app on pc issue

I was able to take a screen shot I think the issue is caused by my dev kit, but it doesn't make any sense because it shouldn't be doing this.

    Issues with XBOX PC app

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this Ajit

Please try this, one of the solutions below should fix the issue:

Press Windows button and type Services

On Services App from the list of results, press right-click and run it as administrator

Scroll to the bottom and find the following services:

    IP Helper
    Xbox Live Auth Manager
    Xbox Live Game Save
    Xbox Live Networking Service
    Gaming Services

And do this with each of the services listed above:

Right-click over the service and select Properties.
Find the Startup type section and make sure it’s set to Automatic (if not, change it to automatic)
If the service isn’t started, click Start to start the services

Restart your PC and try again

    ---------

If the issue persists, proceed with this:

Press Windows + X, then click on Windows Powershell (Administrator)

Then type or copy/paste this command and press enter:

    Get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider | Remove-AppxPackage

Restart your PC and install the recently deleted app:

    https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/xbox-id...

Finally go to Windows Settings > Apps and Features > Xbox app > Reset and Repair, then restart your PC and give it a new try.

If that doesn't work please also try these tutorials:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix...

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

    Or try this (RainingRoses response):

"Try the following options for Windows 10/11:
    1. Go to Credential Manager (https://support.microsoft.com/windows/accessing...) > Windows Credentials (not the Web option), select XblGrts|DeviceKey and remove.

    2. Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts. Select your account with the issue and verify that the ‘Apps need to ask me to use this account’ setting is enabled. This would especially help if you have multiple accounts as you would have the option to choose the correct account on startup, but you can always change it back to the automatic option if you prefer. You can also try to remove the account from here and re-add it later.

    3. Follow this file path: C:\Users\[Your Username]AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\TokenBroker
Delete the Accounts and Cache folders, which will be deleted from the Xbox Identity Provider

Note that the highlighted code in this file path depends on your system so may vary.
If you don’t see a particular folder, then confirm there’s no search filters applied and select ‘show hidden items’, or you can just search for the folder in the search bar.
Restart your PC after trying the above steps, so that these properly take effect next time you sign in. It may also help to then reset and repair and/or uninstall and reinstall the Xbox apps where this error occurs."
