    XBox PC App - 0x87e00196 during game installation


    I just recently started getting error code 0x87e00196 when I attempt to install games through the Xbox PC client.

    Facts
    1. I have Game Pass Ultimate and these are games I should be able to download using my subscription.
    2. Up until a week ago, I've been able to download games fine to this PC.
    3. I'm able to download and play the same games on my laptop using the same subscription.
    4. The hard drive I'm installing to has plenty of space
    5. I'm running Windows 10
    6. Error code is coming back for multiple games

    Attempted Solutions
    1. Repairing Gaming Services and Xbox apps through Settings > Apps
    2. Resetting Gaming Servicess and Xbox apps through Settings > Apps
    3. Uninstalling and reinstalling Gaming Services and Xbox apps
    4. Running WSReset prior to reinstalling apps
    5. Joining Xbox Gaming Insider Program and attempting to reinstall
    6. Leaving Xbox Gaming Insider Program and attempting to reinstall

    Does anyone have any other ideas?

    I was able to fix the 0x87e00196 error by myself. So I can install games from the PC Game Pass again.

    Just had to reinstall the Gaming Services again...

    Done, no success. Games still throw Error: 0x87e00196 when attempting to install.

    Can't install or play any gamepass (PC) games anymore

    Reset the cache, not working, 0x87E00196 now when I try to install games. Which is linked to the gaming services application, which I've installed and reinstalled about a dozen times now.

    Already uninstalled and reinstalled the Xbox app

    Windows is completely up to date.

    The Anti-Virus is Windows defender and it didn't work once I disabled it.

    Unfortunately none of these worked.

    - Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

    - Type "wsreset.exe" (without quotes) and press Enter.

    - Wait for the command to complete, and then try installing the game again.



    2. Reinstall the Xbox app: If none of the above steps work, you can try reinstalling the Xbox app. To do this, follow these steps:



    - Press the Windows key + X and select "Apps and Features".

    - Locate the Xbox app and click on it.

    - Click on "Uninstall" and follow the on-screen instructions.

    - Once the app is uninstalled, restart your computer.

    - Go to the Microsoft Store and reinstall the Xbox app.

    - Try installing the game again.

    3. Open Windows Powershell as administrator. Copy and Past the command below and then press Enter after each one.

    - To reinstall: start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
