Xbox patches delivery service.

It's not just the size of the "update" that we are stuck with.

I understand that the games developers might be responsible for the patch size, but what about the terrible service provided from Microsoft in regards to actually getting that update downloaded???

My 66 GB update was started around 6pm last night, i left the XBox on overnight, it's now 10:46am & the download is on 54.35 GB, 82% & is saying it has 6.5 hours to go???

I have also been trying to download Mechwarrior 5 on my PC through Game Pass, that also has been going for roughly the same amount of time, it is on 7 GB of 44 GB.

MCGaminX I can assure you that my 100Mbps internet connection is not being taxed by the 500kbps average download speed provided by the download
store and it is certainly not being throttled by my ISP. btw I'm coming up on 19 hours for this download and it is still reporting 2 hours to complete although I have downloaded 65.73 GB of 66.31 GB. Is it really going to take 2 hours to download approximately
600MBytes over a 100Mbps connect? Please.

I followed the steps in the guide.

My PC install of MechWarrior 5 is actually working now.

I did a console reset on my Xbox One X, no change, it's worse now more than anything.

It's struggling to maintain a connection & keeps bouncing around between 500kbps & 1Mbps.

Did a network test, the XBox said everything is sweet & is connected at 40 MBps, it's just downloads off the store are terrible.

It's not just Modern Warfare either, i was having a problem playing a movie last night, so deleted & re-installed the BR Player App, the App is a few MB in size, it took nearly 5mins????

So while watching my MW download go no where, i thought i'd start the download on my PS4 & see what happens.

It's steadily downloading the 15 GB initial Modern Warfare install & has done 6.5 GB in the last 20 mins or so.

I'm on a full fibre connection, everything else is working properly, the XBox downloads are horrible & have been for a long time.

I waste a lot of time playing Modern Warfare, probably too much lol, and each time an update is released, especially the big ones, i have to start the downloads & let them go overnight.

I've even had to turn off the XBox going into rest mode, because when it does, it has a habit of not downloading updates.

I have the boxes ticked for the background downloads, so all my games are, in theory, kept up to date, without me needing to ever worry about an update, it doesn't work.

I currently have Modern Warfare downloading, another game in the queue waiting to go & when i check my library, there are 12 other games with updates needing to be done.

I'm not the only person complaining about this either.

Making excuses & blaming my ISP is just silly.

The XBox update process & speed of service is a joke.

Why can't xbox get the patch delivery service for games correct? Been a loyal customer for going on 20 years or more. 66 gigs really? Where as the ps4 and pc only have a 1.2. This is absurd.

You are right JeremyPeacock this is absurd. We have three separate XBOX ONES in our house. Do the math on that update size. I understand that the devs are delivering massive updates and this incident is a bug (or so we are told) but a little push back from
Microsoft on behalf of your loyal paying customers would be nice. New generation consoles on the horizon, I think a brand switch could be on the cards.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. WE see you have question on patches. Unfortunately, the patches do not come from Microsoft/Xbox unless we published them. patches come from the developers of the games. For example Fortnite=Epic games, Call of duty
warzone=Infinity ward. If the patch is 66 GB sounds like it may be installing the full game again. Did you pause or cancel the update at any time? This can cause it to reinstall the full game.
