    Xbox password and payment option problem


    I have logged on to my microsoft account, obviously, as I'm writing this post. So that establishes that my password is correct.

    Problem 1: I have added a payment method on my microsoft profile, but it doesn't show up on my xbox 360 when I'm trying to buy a game. Why???

    Problem 2: When I try to add a payment method on my xbox 360 console it prompts me to enter my microsoft password, but it says it's incorrect.

    **** is going on?????

    Chat Support:

    > Visit the Xbox Support website: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us/
    > Click on the "Contact Us" button in the right of the screen.
    > Select the issue you need help with and click on the "Next" option.
    > Sign in to your Microsoft account.
    > Follow the prompts to connect to a live chat agent.

    For Callback Support:

    > Select Xbox One
    > Select See more options then subscription changes
    > Select Show Contact options
    > Select Request a call from support

    Once they call explain the issue and they will be able to help you. Note that these options regularly change so just keep selecting something that gives a request for a call from support as a contact option.

    If you're unable to contact them, try again at a later time.

    I'm sorry you are experiencing this with adding your payment method upon attempting to purchase on Xbox 360 console. No worries, let me help you sort this out.

    It's important to note that this is a public user-to-user community forum, and none of us here work for Microsoft.

    According to the official Xbox website, this could be an issue with the Xbox 360 marketplace.

    For your first inquiry, if you don't see the payment option when you try to make a purchase, you need to add the payment option on your Xbox 360 console.

    Since it prompts you to enter your account password and it shows as incorrect, try to change your Microsoft account password on the web browser. Here's how:

    > Go to account.microsoft.com and if you’re not already signed in, sign in with the username and current password for the account you want to update.
    > From the navigation header, select Security and because you’re accessing sensitive info, you’ll need to enter the password for this account again.
    > From the Password security tile, select Change my password.
    > On the Change your password page, enter your current password and then enter your new password.
    > Select Save.

    You may also try to change your account password on the Xbox 360 console:

    > Sign in to your Xbox 360.
    > Scroll right to Settings and select Account.
    > Scroll right to Your Information and select Account Security.
    > Select Change Password.
    > Enter your current password, enter your new password twice, and then select Change Now.
    > If you want to save the password so you can use it to sign in to other Microsoft services, select Yes when you're prompted to do so.

    Once you're done, try to add your payment method to your Xbox 360 console.

    Thank you for reaching out. The password for one's mocrosoft account and xbox are the same.

    I don't want to change my microsoft password as it's also neede for other services like skype.

    And the problem is not with my microsoft password. I have logged on and added the payment option to my microsoft profile.

    The problem is that the card details do not appear on my xbox, so it's a glitch on microsoft's end. As is the fact that a correct password is not accepted on xbox. And an even bigger problem is that the microsoft muppets do not offer telephone support for this problem.

    To resolve this problem, try the following solutions:

    Solution 1: Check the status of Xbox LIVE

    During scheduled system maintenance or unforeseen Xbox LIVE issues, some Xbox LIVE features may not be available. To determine Xbox LIVE, see Service status.

    Solution 2: Test the Xbox LIVE connection:

    To test your connection to Xbox LIVE, follow these steps:

    Go to Settings and then System.

    Select Network Settings.

    Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so.

    Select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

    Solution 3: Check your billing address

    Make sure that the billing address for your Xbox LIVE account matches the billing address used by your credit card company. Also make sure that your Xbox LIVE account payment information, including capitalisation, matches the information that is used by
    your credit card company.

    To change the billing address for your Xbox LIVE account, see Change your Xbox LIVE account information.

    Solution 4: Contact your bank or financial institution

    The Xbox LIVE purchase might have failed for any of these reasons:

    The credit card has not been activated.

    The credit card was declined due to insufficient funds.

    The credit card is not authorised for online purchases or automatic billing.

    The credit card company is blocking the transaction.

    Contact your credit card company or bank and make sure that the card that you’re using was activated, that it has available funds, and that the transaction is not being blocked for some reason.

    Solution 5: Try your purchase again later

    The Xbox LIVE purchase might be blocked for any of these reasons:

    Too many recent purchase attempts were declined.

    The Xbox LIVE account or the payment option is being used from a suspicious location.

    The payment option you provided may have a violation for non-payment that’s preventing it from being used for new purchases.

    Wait and try the transaction again in 24 to 48 hours. If lots of purchase failures occur, this can prevent transactions from being processed until no purchase attempts have been made for a while (usually 24 to 48 hours).

    Solution 6: Use a pre-paid Microsoft Points or membership card if available

    As an alternative to using a credit or bank card, you can purchase a pre-paid Microsoft Points card from a retailer and use it to make purchases. Note that not all purchases support Microsoft Points or pre-paid options. Before purchasing Microsoft Points
    or a pre-paid card, make sure that purchase option is available for the item you want to purchase.

    Solution 7: Confirm that you are using an approved payment method

    You can use Visa, MasterCard or American Express cards in Windows Phone Marketplace as long as they allow international purchases. Even if your card displays a Visa or MasterCard logo, it is possible that it's not approved by your bank or issuing financial
    institution for international purchases.

    Note Pre-paid cards, debit cards and gift cards (even those with a Visa or MasterCard logo) do not qualify as international cards and are not currently accepted by Windows Phone Marketplace.

    If your credit card is an approved form of payment, try the next solution.

    Solution 8: Check the card number, expiry date, card security code and name on the card

    Retype the credit card number without any spaces, commas or other non-numeric characters. Verify that the expiry date, card security code and name that you entered are correct and match what is shown on the card.
