Xbox Party Wont Work!!!

Please Help!

My xbox one party won't work. When I try to join a party it shows my name connecting in snap and it shows my friends name, but then it takes me back to the party screen that has the start a party and info options. If I try to start a party it shows
my name connecting to my own party but then returning me to the same screen in snap! I can't figure out how to fix this. PLEASE HELP!!!

My mic wont work on my xbox one controller it works on my ipad by sound and stuff but on my controller i cant talk or listen to people in my party and the mic picture next to your controller battery picture on the top right says my mic wont work.
