    Xbox Party connection issues over Ethernet


    Hi there,

    I'm fortunate enough to have already realised a workaround for this issue but here goes.

    For some reason, my friend and I cannot connect to an Xbox party whenever my Xbox Series X is connected by Ethernet - though this issue was also present on the One X. Symptoms can include:

    'Connecting...' message displayed next to my friend's gamertag on my screen (and mine on his)

    The party 'encountering an error' and disconnecting both of us after 5 minutes or so of no audio

    Here's my workaround - connect wirelessly. We have no issues at all when I unplug my Ethernet.

    'If you have a workaround, why post at all?' I hear you ask. Well, I don't think I should be forced to choose between playing with friends and a (otherwise flawless) wired connection. First world problem, I know.

    My question is, does anybody know a permanent fix for this?

    i keep getting disconnected from xbox live parties. please help.

    are you only disconnected from the party or live etc too have you noticed?

    Are you using a wifi or ethernet cable connection?

    If wifi then I suggest trying ethernet, if the issue goes there maybe issue with the wifi on either your modem/provider side or the wifi in the xbox itself. Can my minimal dip in service but enough to drop the chat/party.

    Can't play any online games, connected to xbox live though.

    Connecting via ethernet fixes this issue, not sure why it's not working over WiFi. It worked fine for the last week.

    No but you can connect it via Ethernet cable with a cross over cable or with standard Ethernet cables with a router or Ethernet switch. The other way is connect it to your wifi.
