Xbox parental controls (email/son/account)

Hello all!!

So when I bought an xbox a few years ago I signed up using my personal email (my son was 9 and didnt think he should have one yet).

Now he plays far too frequently and is up until crazy hours of the night playing. Short of unplugging the modem is there anything I can do:

When I go to parental controls the email (mine) is the one he has access to at my house and his dads...he knows the password for this etc which is no problem for me to change of course......my question is if i set him up as a child and sign up/make him an email under my account will his games go with him? like the many purchases on rocket league and fortenite to name a few?

No. If you were to create a child account for him, it would be a brand new account and he would have to start over. Nothing can be transferred between accounts.

you cannot use the same account from microsoft to log in 2 accounts, you can only use one account per email, you have to use the original account you signed him up with, you have the ability as a parent through parental controls to view your sons account

i believe from there you will be able to get correct login info for your son, if that doesnt work i would go to account proofs and see what you can find there that will guide you in the right direction, if that doesnt help i would contact xboxlive and ask
for some support on how to fix this issue.

You could always just change your gamertag to something your son would want and just gift him the account. ...

This might circumvent parental controls the parent has set up for the kid and make the kid a full grown adult that can't be controlled or restricted on the Xbox anymore.

Also, the kid will then have control over the Microsoft account, meaning the kid can access the parent emails, OneDrive storage and anything else associated with the account.

So do NOT do that.

Hello KIOWADOC58D, Is your sons profile (old/new) a gold account? Also Im guessing you have tried: Xbox 360 console parental controls?

Is your son using your own (adult) account?

If so, do yourself a favor and create a separate account for your son with his own email.

There are so many parents in this forum, where the son went on a shopping spree with the unrestricted parent account, or where the parents later reconsider giving their kid access to their own email, and then all game progress can't be transferred over to
the new account of the kid.

The earlier your son has their own account, the better.
