    Xbox parental controls and restrictions


    I'm trying to buy GTA5 for my 17 year old cousin and we're hitting a wall before the actual purchase. His parents approve, I added him into my "family" and given him all the access I could. I even told the console to ask me for permission when he makes a purchase.

    When we go to buy the damn thing "Oops" got an error buddy.

    Please do tell what I did wrong, cause it really sucks for him.

    And please, no PTA-type replies. No kid got screwed up playing GTA, especially not a 17 year old.

    Restricting purchases

    The only way to currently restrict purchases is to block xbox live under the family setting as shown here:

    support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-parental-control

    However if you do create a child account you can control the restrictions from your own account rather than directly taking control of the child account, which is also detailed on the link above.

    It sounds like you need to change the restrictions on your console/profile.

    Also make sure there aren't any age restrictions on your account/Xbox, because this will stop un-rated content being downloadable.

    Hey there Gavva! This is probably due to your age restrictions set up on your child account by the parent account. You will need to give your account permissions to purchase game content. Here's a guide to parental controls, if you need it:
