    XBOX owned games cannot be played without xbox live


    I have bought a number of digital copies of games and they cannot be played without my profile being signed into xbox live. Not only that xbox live must also be up and running.

    This is ridiculous!

    I own the game, it is on my hard drive and should be able to play it any time I want without being connected to the internet or having to deal with xbox live constant outages.

    This issue needs an immediate fix.

    As long as your console is set to your "home" console you can go into network settings & set it to "offline mode" & play any games while not connected to live.

    Obviously this isn't possible with "online only" games.

    without xbox live gold you cannot play any of the games with gold games, but if you renew gold on its own or gamepass ultimate then you can start playing all the games with gold titles again.

    games with gold titles stay attached to your profile all the time, they can only be used though with an active sub.

    Hello, I've read your question, and I believe I understand your situation. The Xbox Ambassadors are here to help.

    If you have purchased the games, they are yours to keep and play as you wish, although yes without Xbox live some functions and some games are affected. Generally it is multiplayer online that you cannot access without Xbox live. You can still play split-screen
    with games that you own. However, if you have Xbox game pass, and you have downloaded a game, you will not be able to play this game until you renew your Xbox game pass subscription.
