  1. Xbox Overheating Issue.

I've been using my Xbox 360 Slim since 2012 and had no issues with it until now. After 40 minutes, the xbox completely shuts off since it overheats. My console fan is working and there's no dust covering it. It just overheats and the fan can't cool the
console down. So how can I fix this problem?

    :)

    Overheating issues?

I have never had any problems with my Xbox 360 overheating. I don't play my 360 enough, to result in an overheating issue. I don't even have any fans hooked onto my 360, and I never run into any issues related to overheating.

    Xbox Overheating issue?

Hey there FOMaster - does the fan not spin at all, even when you attempt to play a game? At what point does it shut down? Is it consistent? Thanks Xbox Overheating Issue. :)

If your 360 has a Hard Drive. One possible solution is to remove the Hard Drive door, lay it aside, and thereby allow cool air to circulate around the Hard Drive.

Also make sure you have plenty of open space for the fan to exhaust heat away from the system.

Having a Hard Drive in an unventilated, closed plastic enclosure I have always seen as a poor design flaw.

One other thing: If you have in home Air Conditioning, set it at around 70 degrees. This will also help to keep the system running cooler as well.

If none of that helps, then I can only suggest calling support, and possible sending it in for cleaning, and or repair.

  5. Sadly, I can't call for servicing. We have not much money left and since my mom won't spend any more money on fixing it and with me having no money at all, i'm stuck out of options then. Besides, once I feel the console, there is no cool air coming out at
all from all sides and it only gets hot and then overheats finally.

Aside from what he suggested, there's not much else you can do. Just make sure everything's clean and that the Xbox has at least 1-2 inches of room between it and any cabinets or walls. If it's on its side, you could try propping it up the other way to see
if it makes a difference, but usually that's negligible.

  7. With how everything is in my room, the Xbox 360 is already more then 1-2 inches away from the wall, but I can't stand it up since I have to lay it down on a metal rack with not much height between the different layers.

Its that 'not much height' answer which is concerning me. The fan (Top of console) should have plenty of space with which to allow the expulsion of heat AWAY from the unit. So when laid flat, I would give it more than a foot of space above the unit. And
believe me. Removing thr Harddrive door (Located on the right side on the console when laid flat) does help to draw in cool air around the harddrive. Which can and will get hot enough to cause the system to shut down.

Removing the HDD 'door' gives negligible air flow. If your console is overheating with the door on, it's not magically going to stay cool with the door off. There's nowhere for the air to go in, as there is no intake of air designed to go in that way. All
removing the door would do is let air circulate around the millimeters around the HDD. Just make sure your console has room to breathe. 1-2 inches in every direction. An inch is about 3 fingers together. 2 inches is a bit of space. Also make sure that there's
room between your furniture and the wall so air can move around. Really, if it keeps overheating your best bet is sending it in for repair, or, getting an air conditioner.

  10. It may not be overheating ive had a problem recently where i would turn it on and and it would shut itself off immediatly or wait 20-30 minutes move it to your top rack on the shelf if you can then find something small but sturdy to put underneath the left
and right side to raise it an inch then adjust your display settings and audio settings (this may take some tweaking to get it right) also turn off the option for the xbox to automatically adjust the display settings to your tv. i did this last night and my
xbox has been on for nine hours now with no problem if it still doesnt work go to your hard drive storage and delete all system updates (obivously if you need them live will let you know)

  11. What would cause mine to only overheat when I'm trying to play a game with the disc and it comes up and says that its shutting off to protect from low ventilation and don't do it when just playing youtube

Sorry to hear about that try:

    Move your console

It's important to keep your console in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.

    1. Turn off the console.

    2. Move the console to an open, well-ventilated area, away from all other electronic devices.

    Tips for positioning your console

Do not put your console in an enclosed space. Put the console in an open area with lots of ventilation.

Do not stack electronic devices on top of or below your console. Make sure the console and its power supply are on a hard surface.

Do not put your console on something soft (like a bed, sofa or rug).

Keep the console away from heat sources, such as ventilation openings on televisions and electronic devices. Also, keep the console away from heating vents and direct sunlight.

    3. Turn on the console.

    Hope this helped
