Xbox Originals game failing to play after download

Hello there, I've come with an issue regarding the Xbox original title, Jade Empire. I've payed for the download of the game on my Xbox 360 console, however, have been unable to play it after several consecutive retries. The game will say, "download 100%",
but when I go to play it, the game will read, "game could not start, please download again." I have tried clearing my cache and restarting my system, all to no avail. If it could possibly have anything to due with my issue, my HDD was replaced a week or so
ago due to the console red-ringing (the problem is fixed now, it seems, and I was able to download Saints Row 3 with no issues when the hardware was first replaced).

Any help resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Black doesn't work.

Just recently purchased the xbox originals "Black" game on the xbox live market place. After a "successful" download, the game will not play. I'ma sad gamer.

Is the replacement hard drive an official microsoft product?

Disc versions of original xbox games require an official hard drive, i am not 100% sure but i imagine the downloadable games require the same.

Hi there,

if the replacement drive is indeed an official xbox 360 hard drive, then please delete the game, check for any corrupt or incomplete files on the storage device, clear the cache, reboot the console and try to redownload the game.

Ah, I believe we have found my problem: my replacement drive is not an official Xbox 360 drive. Somehow I failed to realize that the product I was ordering was not one. It took one glance at the previously removed drive to realize my mistake.

I appreciate the help in resolving this matter.

Hey mate, you do need an update to be able to play original xbox games on the 360, however you can download the update from the websites and put it on the USB or disc and install it to the console that way:

support.xbox.com/.../play-original-games

Also Thief is on the compatibility list so it should play fine after you do the above.

Did your Xbox fail at one point, get a new one, and forget to transfer content licenses? It could also be the same concept as downloading the game from disk to the HDD. It needs the physical copy (or original source) to be able to play. Most of the arcad
games I downloaded and re-downloaded still won't work unless I'm connected to live.
