xbox (original games) on my 360 aren't working

Hello,

I've been trying to play halo, halo2, KOTOR, and KOTOR2 on my 360. Anytime I put in a disk I get a message saying "This game couldn't start. Try downloading the game again" . What am I supposed to do?

Things I've checked/ done so far:

1) checked that these games were backwards compatible:

2) Deleted my cache in all my memory storage devices

3) Deleted an incomplete downloads on all storage devices

4) I am connected to xbox live (So my software should be updated)

5) I didn't see any downloads for all for games in the marketplace.

360 games aren't working

If you are trying to buy BC games via the Xbox One console you need to have a payment method in place for that store, either a card or PayPal. Without that payment method in place you can't buy or download. You also should be able to buy directly from a
360 console.

For the other issue, try going into settings and clearing the 360 cache and see if that helps.

360 BC games previously downloaded shouldn't require Gold, only the Xbox One games do.

Hello. I am sorry you are having this issue. First, you may want to make sure you are still currently subscribed to an Xbox Gold membership. Another suggestion is to try re-downloading your profile on to your 360, accessed at the sign out screen. *Note*
Have your Microsoft account log in details handy.

 

Also I know 3rd party hard drives won't always play 360 games. I bought my hard drive used, and it looks identical to the stock hard drives many of my friends have on their 360. Is there anything I should look for to identify whether or not my hard drive
is from a 3rd part company or not?

 

Microsoft sticker for one, although those are easily manipulated. I can't really tell you any other (official) way to identify a legitimate HDD. People can take a real 360 enclosure, put a dummy drive in it, and sell it. There's really no way of telling
100%--that's the risk you run when you buy a used drive.

That being said, I'm not sure what error the 360 throws at you when you try to run a game and you don't have the Xbox original partition on your drive, though I'm pretty sure it's the one you've given.

Some things that point at a fake drive is--when you boot up a game does it try to download anything? The Xbox checks for updates and downloads the emulation profile for the game if any exist. If they do, it downloads it and boots into your game. If it doesn't
find any, it gives you an error code (X: number Y: number). If it doesn't even check, then the Xbox original partition probably isn't on your drive, meaning it came from an arcade console, or is counterfeit. How big is your HDD? Is the Microsoft holographic
sticker on it anywhere? If it's a phat console, does the number on the HDD match the size of your HDD (approximately)? So if it says 20 GB on the top and your drive is 120 GB, then you know it's obviously been tampered with. If it says 20 GB and you get around
