XBOX original 17th Anniversary Re-Release

Since we learned that XBOX original games will be in limited & small numbers on XBOX ONE, S & X we are all disapointed already! As we learned the XBOX original DUKE CONTROLLER is being re-released we also MUST HAVE a XBOX original itself re-released with
a better dvd drive that always reads/opens ect.). perhaps it would be more cost effective if Microsoft re-released as 17th Anniversary XBOX original much like Nintendo recently did with their old console (I would like to see this in 2018 sometime & i would
buy at least 2 of them (also the entire library of 800 plus games would play (not just the 70 to 150 we will get on XBOX ONE's if even that many! What do you guys think?

343 needs to sale Halo 2 in the Xbox Originals I mean that game was the best one in the series besides the first one in my opinion

I just wanted the Xbox Original to go on sale if check u my first post the 3rd post guy said anniversary re-release so that's when I started talking about it and everyone is blaming me now lol so I thought it made sense since the first Halo got a anniversary

update: if microsoft got on the ball now we could have our 17th anniversary XBOX original consoles in 2017 this christmas (since XBOX ONE X is 11/7/2017 release then how about XBOX original re-release for 12/17/2017 for 17 anniversary (think is 17 years
since 11/15/2001 when it released?

I've never understood why so many want to go backwards instead of forwards.

Yay! I can play a game that's 17 years old on my Xbox One X! lol

For some reason that doesn't really excite me like it does others.

 

It's mainly for games I haven't finished, at least for me. I have a large back log for the original xb and graphics are no deal breaker. If I could import my Morrowind save that would be great

 

What's all this commotion about SEVENTEEN years when you've just acknowledged that OG Xbox launched in November 2001? By my estimation, that makes it SIXTEEN years this holiday season, and that's not especially commemorative. If there should be *any* motivation
at all for celebrating the brand, then you might wanna check back in 2021! Just sayin'

 

there is no fuss (there is just a sigestion). indeed 17 years is a funny number but they are releasing XBOX ONE X on the 12/7/2017 so it goes nicely). a more logical release date for a re-released original XBOX would be the 20th anniversary of 11/15/2021
(this will complete 20 years of XBOX's as well & would be a great way to celebrate). further more the real purpose of re-releasing the original XBOX is so we can have 100% of the 800 plus games playable without the need for backwards compatabilty and microsoft
seeking licenses ect.). anyways many of us still game on XBOX original so we are happy about microsoft's effort with backwards compatable (it was a really nice gesture & we appreciate but just give us the chance to own the old console again (i myself would
buy 2 of them as i already own a new original XBOX that is more of collector's item than 1 i want to use alot). having a few more new 1's around would reduce wear & tear so we can be playing for decades more!

 

let me help you understand the thinking of gamers who like backwards compatable games (or just older games in general). the desire to play older games is about good memories & wanting to re-live that (it is also about wanting to re-visit the back-story of
many of our favorite games series for example: HALO,. STAR WARS, TOMB RAIDER, ASSASSIN'S CREED, METAL GEAR SOLID to name a few). It is also about older hardware can age to the point your console or pc breaks down (you sometimes either need another console
or pc or backwards compatable on newer machines). remember the games you love now will be old games one day soon (some people just live in the moment & never look back & this is ok but not ok for many of us). hope you understand the whole backwards & retro
gaming scene!

 

that is another reason for backwards gaming (also as you say some people got the latest edition but missed some early back-story which was really important to them (sometimes games do not really have much of a story so it is more just curiosity and fun to
see what the older games looked or played like! it is just a fraction of gamers who are into this (it is mostly die-hard gamers who are so into games they collect old games as well because they want to really have a grasp on anything they may have missed).

 

casual gamers who game just to game & they have other interests in life that eat their time (they do not understand the point of older games because they do not value-games as us die-hard games! as phil spencer said the XBOX ONE X was made mostly for us
die-hard gamers (we demand more, more games, more power & the best we can get no matter where we can get it lol). hope that helps people understand?

 

I have 10 of the origional xbox's, each with a unique disc read error, so if I want to play Splinter Cell I have to go through each one till I find one that will still read that particular game and if another game I have to pull out yet another OG xbox that
will read it. Optical drives (Thomson, Samsung, both A and B models, Phillips and.. forget the other.) were all, to various degrees. Junk in those days.

I wouldn't mind an up 2 date OG with a modern optical drive... Or two!

 

i understand how you feel ElectroFlying (i have 4 original XBOX's & only my newest 1 has no dvd tray/lazer issues but i still want at least 2 more XBOX's so i can play my library long into the future). this is why i would like to see a anniversary re-release
of original XBOX but as you said a re-designed 1 that plays exactly the same (without the errors or at least the same xbox with a REALLY GOOD dvd drive! it is nice to see other XBOX gamers who like to hold onto the original consoles (there is tutorials on
youtube as to how to fix those dvd drive errors (lazer alignment & tray adjustments ect. but it is alot of work). because microsoft pulled original XBOX off the market so soon & we lost alot of our original DLC (also because the console had alot of error's
microsoft owes us a re-release since backwards compatable requires so much work). i was thinking about the anniversary thing & it does indeed make more sense it should be the up comming 20th ANNIVERSARY Original XBOX re-release (17th is sooner but anniversarys
are traditionaly made a bigger with 10th, 20th, 30th ect.). additionaly microsoft should not be satasfied being number #2 in sales world-wide (sony-playstation 4 needs to be challanged & the XBOX ONE S & X is going to need something to help people see XBOX ONE is
better than PS4). at least keep us loyalists happy so we don't go back to PS4). what do you guys think about all of this?

 

As far as I am concerned all that really needs to happen is for an Optical drive manufacturer to do a quality direct replacement Optical drive. Heck, i'd even settle for a chinese knock off.

 

Why? Well we want to retain & replay the best games over again (many of them are on XBOX & XBOX 360). Good times never grow old (they just get played again lol).
