    Xbox or router issue?

    This is a strange one.

My xbox one connects to my network without any issues when I have it in my bedroom on the third floor of the house.

When I bring it downstairs, it connects to the network for about ten minutes then the connection drops entirely for about ten minutes more. This happens repeatedly and I have attempted all the usual resets etc and cannot find a solution. The xbox is closer
to the router downstairs, so if anything, it should have a stronger connection when relocated.

Any ideas what the cause may be?

When the xbox loses connection my phone and laptop continue to maintain a working Internet connection. Only the xbox has the issues which makes me suspect it isn't the router at fault.

    Thanks for any advice!

    :)

    XBOX or MODEM/ROUTER?

So I moved into a house recently and had Cox Communications set up my wifi. We used our own router and modem and my Xbox was able to connect to wifi just fine. Today I turned on the xbox and it wont connect to wifi at all. I've restarted the modem and
since it's not a Cox issued modem i cant check to see if there is any MAC address filtering. Can it be my xbox wearing out? Please send help.

  3. Router, or Computer?

Bridging your connection though a PC will cause more connection issues than going through the router, for sure.

    Xbox or router issue?

Your WiFi signal may be getting interrupted by a phone signal or it is to close to an interference source. Are you able to hard wire your Xbox when it is downstairs? That might solve your problem. I understand it makes it harder to move it around the house
but see if it work in solving your problem.

    Router Issue

Well I cant drag an Ethernet cable up to my room even though the router is below. See my Dad had his computer hooked up by Ethernet when it did this and he said his computer was still fine. Its funny it seems like all the WiFi/Wireless stuff goes when it
happens. Umm to Vibroplex sorry i thought that is what it was. I believe it is the WNDR3300 because it has that Blue light on the top.

Well, if you could drag an ethernet cable, it would work, as Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters (330') long... and if your Da's PC was connected, you could still have problems. Since the Xbox 360 uses different ports than PCs & Macs use, you can't see
the effect of a port blockage except on the Xbox.

Some NAT problems are subtle and don't appear in the Test Xbox Live Connection test. Most likely there's a port blocked... ports can be blocked in your router, modem, or at your ISP.

A sequential power cycle is the first step in clearing a port blockage:

    1) turn off the Xbox then

    2) unplug the power from the router (Some folks have a combination modem-router AKA 'gateway'. If so, skip step 3).

    3) unplug the power from the modem.

    4) Wait at least 30 secs then replug the modem (or gateway) power.

    5) Wait 'til the light on the front of the modem (or gateway) which says ONLINE, READY, CABLE or DSL is on solid (not flashing), then plug in the router. If you have a gateway instead of a modem and router, then when that light says it's ready, skip step
    6.

    6) Wait until the WiFi light on the router is on; you may not use WiFi, but it's still a good indicator your router is finished booting up.

    7) Turn on the Xbox. For more background on Ports, see

And that Netgear router number is good. Thank you!

    Router issues

If you play games on Xbox Live, you could experience a denial of service (or DoS) or distributed denial of service (or DDoS) attack. Such attacks may render your device (your Xbox console or your computer)
temporarily unable to connect to the Internet or to Xbox Live.

If you have an Xbox Live account, your Xbox console could experience a DoS attack or DDoS attack from another Xbox Live account holder. DoS attacks and DDoS attacks are sometimes used as retaliation between
    Xbox Live game players.

If you think you've experienced a DoS or DDoS attack, we recommend that you reset your Internet router and contact your Internet service provider (ISP). If you know who initiated the DoS or DDoS attack,
you may also want to submit a player review to Xbox Live and avoid the attacker in the future
