    Xbox or Amp problem?

So when I have the Xbox set to Uncompressed my amp shows it as Multichannel which is fine. If I'm watching a 5.1 source all works great.

Where my problems start is when it's not a 5.1 source. The amp is 'smart' in that it only shows the available listening modes and so doesn't give me the option to switch to Dolby ProLogic II or erm the DTS equivalent. If I change it to stereo on the Xbox,
the amp switches to ProLogic straight away.

I've tried it with all the settings, uncompressed, bitstream and through the optical cable too, still the same result.

So my question is, is this an Xbox problem as it's always sending the sound as multichannel no matter the source or is it just my amp?

Sorry if the above didn't make any sense

    :)
