By premium edition you mean the ultimate edition then yes, you will need to install the Xbox one version to be able to play with them.

Thank you for getting back to me. We haven't tried yet as we haven't bought the game I was checking what version of the game I needed to buy. So if I get the premium edition or the xbox one edition we will be able to play online with our friend on their xbox one (us playing on series x)? Is that correct? Thanks
