    Hi,

I’m wondering if there are any groups for autistic people. The only reason I ask is my son. Aged 15 likes playing online but when other players are all too loud all at once he can’t cope. So I guess my question is are there any quiet groups he can join? I don’t even know if that’s a thing or not!!

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

Your son sounds similar to my 16yr old, he is quiet and seems younger for his age. He would be interested.

    Hi

I’m looking for the same thing...

My son is 15 and on the spectrum.

He has a hard time finding people to play with and sometimes they are not kind.

He would be happy to play with your son.

    He is BGood#4868.

hi there sorry nobody has taken the time to reply, hope all is well .

I have some but not a large amount of experience with autism, and i would say the challenge would be the difference in levels of spectrum of autism and getting each person to integrate well with the group, so i am not sure if there are specific groups or not on the xbox , i know there are groups for autism like the NAS which have their own forums so you may be able to post on there, even facebook groups and the likes may find like minded children or young adults.

on the Xbox side of things i presume he is happy enough just playing the games , but its just the chat that causes issue?

If he is not wanting to to communicate with others and just play the game as peacefully as possible it may be worthwhile hitting the guide button (central white button ) on the controller and starting a party, that way it will isolate your son so he cant hear game chat and can play without disturbance.

If he does want to communicate with others then each game does have its own looking for group option which you can use and post specifics

    • Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select Multiplayer, and then select Looking for Group.
    • Select Search or create posts, and then select a game from the list (this takes you to its official club).
    • Select a recently played game from the populated list, or search for a game by name.
    • Select Create post.
    • Add tags and a description, and then adjust the details, such as the number of players needed. You can schedule a time to gather by adjusting Day and Party start time, or if you want to gather people into a party right away, select Now.
    • When you’re done, select Post.
    • You will receive a notification once someone has requested to join.
    • Select “[gamertag] interested”
    • Select the user interested
    • Select confirm
    • Finally select, “Gather your party”
the last option i could suggest is speaking to other parents from any groups, school, clubs he attends and see if they have children of the same age willing to play and then he can party with them in private too if he so wishes.

    Hope this helps.

I would suggest in addition to those steps, looking for autistic support forums and gather groups of similar people

Parent looking for gaming friends for Autistic child

Gamenymph, outside of a few private messages Id like to jump in. My daughter is high-functioning autistic, but I have been very reluctant to encourage a social online experience for her yet. She is smart in that autistic way, that I once caught her in
a Pokemon chat room on the PC and it became clear that other individuals online were being rather harsh on her (not being aware of her autism). I did, however, get her into a Pokemon card league which has helped immensely with her social skills (and its something
I can pay attention to a lot easier). SO when it came to an online thing with the xbox, I've been very protective. Seeing as how there is such a wide range of behaviors to autism, I guess just like anyone else, maybe similar games is a good starting point?
