Xbox One's Xbox Fitness Shutting Down, Here's What You Need to Know

The Xbox Fitness app, an Xbox
    One
launch title that featured workouts from famous trainers like Jillian Michaels and the creator of P90X, is being discontinued. Microsoft made
the announcement today on its website
    .

"Microsoft has given much consideration to the reality updating the service regularly in order to sustain it," it explained. "Therefore, the decision has been made to scale back our support for Xbox Fitness over the
    next year."

Starting today, June 27, you can no longer buy any Xbox Fitness content. However, existing users can continue to play their content until June 30, 2017.

There were more two-dozen workouts available for Xbox Fitness, including some from Michaels, Tracy Anderson, P90X, and even NFL player JJ Watt.

Here is a further timeline for Xbox Fitness' last days:

    • On December 15, 2016, we will be removing our "Free with Gold" offer. Until then, Gold members will still be able to access and play the over 30+ workouts available for streaming as a part of this offer for free.
    • On July 1, 2017, Xbox Fitness (and all associated content) will no longer be available for download/play. This includes content you’ve purchased. At that time, Xbox Fitness will no longer be available for download
from Xbox Marketplace and content will not be available for play from the Xbox Marketplace nor within the game. Xbox Fitness users will no longer be able access Xbox Fitness and the associated workouts/programs.

"While our team is saddened by this news, we couldn't be more proud of what we've accomplished in the past two and a half years," Xbox Fitness community manager Erica Bell said. "We know that many of you have used
Xbox Fitness to begin your fitness journey, to supplement it, or as a way to redefine your own fitness story. We're glad we could be a part of the journey."

  2. Fit Points not adding to LifeTime Fit Points

    HI All

Just finished a couple of workouts on Xbox Fitness and noticed that my fit point score was not added to my LIfe Time Fitness points. Has anyone else noticed this? I am able to collect stamps and get a score for the individual work outs. None of the points
are added to the LFP (or the community leaderboard)

I didn't think they were shutting this down.

    Any comments would be great.

    Xbox Fitness shutdown

I was expecting to see a thread about this on here but there either isn't one or I missed it. In any event if you are unaware the xbox fitness program is being shut down. No new programs are being sold and if you purchased any you have until 6/30/17 before you no longer have access to anything you bought. So what this means for people that purchases this is that they are out potentially hundreds of dollars on this digital content (programs cost around $60-40 each). Even if you don't give a shit about Kinect or working out or whatever, take a minute to read some of the comments people posted about how it's changed their life around or how (casuals) only purchased the x 1for this feature. Legally of course any digital content you buy you don't actually own the rights to but just a single license to use that product. Even so this is a part of the xbox community and it would be nice to show them some support and take a second and upvote to keep xbox fitness alive or to add a comment.

On a side note, the new Zombies fitness program is actually kind of fun (and free if you have Kinect), reminds me of the old FMV Sega CD games.

I'd be tweaked if Microsoft took away my paid content...welcome to the digital age where your purchases are merely rentals. Lol.

    Peace, J.R.

the purchased content will be licenced by the creators, they may be pulling the licence which in turn means that the video cannot be provided anymore, as with all digital content they only have to provide it for a certain amount of time and they can remove
it with notice, when purchasing digitally you are purchasing a licence to use the product, this licence can be removed at anytime with prior notice.

That was one of the few interesting features about the Kinect. Too bad they never did anything more than the equivalent of a tech demo with it though. I don't think I've ever seen a company discontinue so many side projects in such a short time like MS has
    been lately...

that's too bad, i used it some and it actually worked really well, it was just a pain if you didn't have a lot of room.

  11. This removing of content that was paid for is terrible. I know some people that use this and they are upset. Unlike buying a video or something they could just keep using they have this stuff. And they use it for their workouts that they do together.
So now they will be cut off from paid content. I can understand them being upset.

These kinds of things are why I am cautious with paid digital content. I had a few 360 arcade games lost. Supposedly the games were just removed from sale but owners could re-download. Never worked for me. I purchased a new console and tried to re-download
and could not. And support just told me the game was removed from the service. And I have lost other digital content a few times (mostly music). Now with music it has to have the ability to be downloaded and put on disc so I can back it up and keep it.

I worry a little with digital content from MS. I have seen them close services and drop content before. Over the last decade it is almost like they are always on their back foot and reacting instead of attacking. A lot of bad decisions that has hurt their
devices and platforms. So it always makes me nervous with them to invest in digital content. Xbox is doing pretty good but you can see some typical MS reactions like it is not performing like they would like it to. Games going to PC, Live free on PC, and
the like. My 3 oldest sons are looking into PC now. And they say their friends are as well. If they can play Xbox games together for free on PC then why not. They tend to chat with other services anyway as they all tend to have party chat troubles with
Live. Overall, if this experiment does not work out MS, possibly, could be looking at lowered revenue from the Xbox division. Would not put it past them to jump ship at that point. Just hope they do not cut off paid content.
