Xbox One's UI/OS needs to be on your console

I have noticed ever since Xbox One launched, Xbox 360's current UI is much faster and, it's running on weaker hardware. Well Microsoft wants us to personalize our own UI and have it all there for us (our own dash background and pins) especially IF and WHEN
we log onto another Xbox One console, Microsoft's servers.... and the Internet Infrastructure, just isn't fast enough to cope! with a UI which tends to be predominantly an online UI. I mean disconnect your Xbox One from the internet! When you do, the console
is FORCED to use it's own UI/OS. Not worry about fetching stuff online.

I speak from experience. How many here, have had Xbox One since DAY ONE? (not day 2, not day 28, but day 1, the day it launched....). With Xbox One X coming up, it would be embarrassing if the UI/OS on it, performed the same. UI/OS performance is NOT solely
based of your internet, but HOW THEY MAKE THE SOFTWARE. Microsoft does monthly updates to Xbox One. And I have Vodafone 100mb/sec download and 10mb/sec upload speed. Our planet is huge. So most of us can't get very low pings.

When I log onto a friends Xbox 360 console, of course my picture I put on my Xbox 360 dashboard isn't there, and my pins isn't there. But it only takes a minute or two to change that back to my liking. A lot of people complain about lag. And many of them
live in cities. I live in a city too. So when we have lots of people complaining about the lag, the Internet Infrastructure isn't perfect. Some may say the Internet Infrastructure is good in the UK. But the Internet Infrastructure applies to a GLOBAL thingy.
Sure it will take me a minute or two to change the UI background and pins, when I visit a friends place and use their Xbox 360 console. But it's better than waiting for that rotating circle in the middle of the screen, to download a UI of personal preference.
Thank goodness Windows 10's UI/OS (PC version) isn't as bad as this. Cause who wants their UI/OS doing this all day or a lot....

I'm very concerned.....

Not something to throw a party about. But at least they're relentless with giving free updates, even though they get it both right and wrong. I think it's more than just "minor fixes to the last big update" that they need to do. This forum is usually dead
but people are going out of their way to come on here...... and say I don't like this UI. Why not just make it more like the current UI version of the Xbox 360 and I'd be way happy. And if you say the 360 UI is slow, hey at least it's something we both agree.
This UI from Microsoft is slow. Xbox One's UI was a nightmare when it launched. It's better now, than it was at launch. But it needs to be less boxy, more simpler and easier to read from a distance, and more kid and youth friendly too, cause Xbox is for all
age groups. Yes the younger people learn quicker than older people, but we also make the most rukis when Microsoft updates the UI to something we don't like. And you cannot escape the UI by saying "we do not buy a console to steer at the dash, we buy it to
play games", because the UI is part of the OS, the most important software running on your console. Because the OS controls everything you do on your console.

 

Is the power of the Xbox One X being wasted on 4k?

There are many reasons why the Xbox One's UI can be a bit slow and clunky, I believe the main reason is that Microsoft decided that they would have the ability for a person to sign into a friends console and have their UI. This requires the UI to be stored
in the cloud (not a lot of people know that)

Perhaps the better idea would be to have the UI stored purely on your console, and not have the ability to sign into other console and have your UI, but that was Microsofts dream, as was the ability to not need game discs when we buy hard copies.

 

Must be something wrong with your xbox one then.

Both of my xbox ones are considerably faster than my xbox 360 & yes,one of them is a day one console.

 

I'm having no problems, yes I agree every once in a while it lags for a second or so going back to the home screen from deep inside the store page, but that's very rare.

 

No lag on my end either. I swap between 2 consoles usually on a daily basis too. One of them is a day one console.

 

Confirmed - Something is wrong with your Xbox One because everyone's Xbox One is faster than their 360.

Nothings wrong with your X1 Smiles, it's simply the way in which MS servers connects to the X1. Instant on mode helps with the lag but comes with a 24 X 7 kwh increase.

 

What lag? I don't get any lag on either of my xbox ones at all.

If a xbox 360's ui is faster than their xbox ones then something isn't right.

I seem to remember Smiles saying it takes over 2 minutes their xbox one to boot up properly in the past & that definitely isn't right.

Both mine are in energy saving mode & take 10-15 seconds to boot up.

 

Test offline

For me it takes about 18 seconds before I see Xbox One screen - all green with logo - then 48 seconds until signed in and home screen there.

Test online - 60s until signed in and on home screen.

In Games & Apps - moving between options on the left has almost 0-5-1s lag - if it is also reading internet. So multi tasking is horrible in my view, seems to use same thread for too many things.

What I hope for in X1X is fully customized interface - like for any exclusive software products you otherwise have.

There are always more options to customize to liking in the more expensive products.

So hope MS get this - and don't give X1X same horrible interface as X1.

So much space wasted on stuff like 4 last used - which also exist in guide etc.

I would like to remove that and pinned stuff appear there as needed.

Navigation is also silly in X1 - LT+RT scroll all the way up of down to get a view further down, nowhere in between, or you have to move with LS down in many steps - WHY ISN'T RS doing the same as in Edge - scrolling?????
