Xbox Ones future... whats your thoughts?

Xbox is awesomeness. I don't see it ending any time yet. Windows 10, Directx12, video games, Kinect, Skype and Minecraft are owned by Microsoft and the exclusive games which are on Xbox. And hololens or whatever it's called, and Cortana. Microsoft also makes
operating systems for PC's and since they listen to our feedback and created an official site and brought back many of the missing stuff Xbox 360 has like voice messages and change the dash background, it's great to be with Xbox. Gaming and social is popular
and there are benefits for both Microsoft to keep running it and for us to have a wooo on.

 

One thing that worries me about the XB1 is that I'm more excited for old games to be played on the One (via backwards compatibility) than for new games to be released. Honestly, I'd rather play Black Ops or BO2 than Black Ops 3 this November. I'd rather
go back to some old school Madden 13 than play Madden 16. Xbox and game developers in general need to get their sh*t together and come up with original games, rather than 276 more Halo games and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 745. I'm obviously okay with some
titles getting sequels, but it'd be nice to get some new refreshing games.

 

I would like to see them integrate party chat between 360 and the One users at the same time. Any thoughts?

 

Fresh2DeathBMac, since when does Halo have about 276 games, Halo only has about 9 games (not counting remasters) in just 14 years, try again.

Call of Duty on the other hand, yeah it's a different story.

 

I'm worried about the Xbox One and this is coming from a Xbox One owner. The reason why I'm worried is Batman Arkham Knight. It was my most anticipated game this year outside of Star wars. Batman is 900p. I know its not a huge deal, but as games get more
complex and really pushing the hardware to the limit, can Xbox One hold up? Say in 4 years ps4 games are struggling to keep games at say 900p, what will Xbox One games be? 720p? I hope not. I can't deal with it. The other thing I worry about is Microsofts
ability to secure games. As the ps4 marketshare continues to grow, almost every game in existence will be on it. Will some 3rd party games completely skip the Xbox One if the gap between the consoles is too large? I'm not talking about fallout or call of
duty, they will be there. But smaller more niche titles are the ones I'm worried about. It's easy to just say, hey go buy a ps4. But I don't want to.

 

^^11-12 million consoles (and growing) is not small potatoes. That is a large audience for your games (regardless of how big a dev you are). Since both consoles have similar architecture, why would you ignore that size of a market? There will be exclusives
for all consoles (usually bought), and there might be some smaller, niche games that go to one or the other, but I don't really worry about anybody intentionally ignoring xbox one due to a gap in console sales. Also, remember that the one is still selling
at a faster rate than the 360 comparing time on the market since release.

 

No third party devs will skip the Xbox, it would be a potentially stupid move and they no it.

Just because the PS4 has sold better this gen, it means nothing in the grand scale of things. MS know they messed up and Sony did a good job to the crowd. Anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence know that Sony would of had very similar plans for drm
and camera bundle at launch, it's obvious. They saw the backlash against MS and spun it in their favour......and it worked.

MS have the money to totally turn things around next gen, and after the whole debacle with the X1, you can guarantee next gen MS will focus on a very powerful console, they can afford to do it and take a loss at first.

 

The entire process has been a mess form day one. It just feels like MS are trying to a plaster on a gun shot wound. As for MS having Deep pockets I think if sales don't start to improve very soon investors will start putting more pressure on M$ to get rid
of the xbox division. Software sales for PS4 are well outpacing that of xbox and thats were the money is.

I love my xbox but this generation has been a massive F**k up from day one. Respect to Phil for trying to put some life back into the brand but i think matrick has well and truly lost a lot of gamers respect. (as the sales figures are reporting)

Hardware is weak and it looks like someone with the imagination of a dead frog designed it.

On a final note, I work in a school and this is how the conversation goes, bearing in mind this is about 70-80% of the market.

"are you buying an xbox or a playstation"

"playstation because the graphics are better"

And thats it pretty much in a nutshell.

Oh no! then who will Sony copy!? haha But seriously, curious to see if they actually do anything with the PS4, orrrr because it's selling they wont touch it. Some cool stuff on the way for Xbox, wouldn't be surprised if we see a PS4 app for your pc soon...

 

I think todd2r is talking about some Japanese games skipping the Xbox One platform since Xbox One has very little sales in Japan.

 

The Xbox One is more than capable of 1080p but Microsoft made the same mistake that Sony did last generation, they made it that bit more difficult to work with. That's not to excuse the developers who aren't hitting the 'golden' 1080p number but it does
make it more understandable.

For Japan Microsoft have a mountain to climb because the Japanese are fiercely loyal to local businesses and it is going to be hard for Microsoft to make inroads into the culture.

I don't think anyone could argue that the Xbox One had a good launch. From the odd focus on the media aspects of the console when it was announced, to the DRM, to Deal With It. It seemed to be disaster after disaster for Microsoft and Sony's PR department
actually doing their jobs didn't help.

By the same token I don't think anyone can argue against that under Phil Spencer things have really turned around. He's someone who is smart enough to know what gamers want, or is smart enough to listen to those that do. He's really put the focus back on
gaming and he's doing a *** good job of it.

I remember reading a few years back, and I'll see if I can find the articles, that the bulk of the money that keeps the Xbox division in the black is the Gold subscription. Now it is pretty much guaranteed money but if the articles were true then it wouldn't
be a surprise that investors are getting itchy feet.

As for a PS4 app on the PC, that would make a lot of sense for Sony. Playstation is by far their strongest brand at the moment, so a Playstation branded laptop (with perhaps official PS1 and PS2 emulators installed) could be a good money spinner.

With the Xbox One being able to run Xbox 360 games I'm wondering if they are going to be able to move that emulation software over to Windows 10 PCs.

 

I can see it now, Sony will unveil there new "innovative" and "ground breaking" project, an app that lets you stream games to PCs etc... and is in no way just doing what MS did ... not at all...

 

^ummm you can stream to a ps vita so MS copied the whole streaming thing if you wanna put it like that.

A lot of upset Xbox one owners in here who seem to care about what Sony is doing waaaay to much.

Just enjoy your console, the XO or PS4 arent going anywhere soon.

Anyway its clasic 3rd console syndrome, Only Nintendo were immune but they have just been keepin it at bay. Look at it like this

PS1... PS2... PS3..

Original Xbox... Xbox 360... Xbox One

Master System... Megadrive.... Dreamcast

every 3rd console is a bad one.
