    Its always worth getting an extended warranty IMO. Especially for first-gen electronics like the X1.

    console turning off unexpectedly    . If none of those steps work, unfortunately your console may be in need of repair. You can initiate that process via the
    Online Service Center.

    Its technically a different device with a different OS. How can it swap XBOX's without needing to reformat?
