XBox One X Won't Connect to MS Store

For the past week, my XBox One X hasn't been able to connect to the MS Store. I just signed up for Games Pass, yet I can't take advantage of it because I can't connect to the store. My MS store always worked fine before and I haven't changed a single thing
in my setup. My internet connection tests pass just fine on the XBox. I reset my modem/router and still get the same thing. From the XBox One Dashboard I can see all the games advertised, but as soon as I click on any of them (for example: Deals with Gold)
it gives me the following error:

Check your connection. Microsoft Store needs to be online. It look like you're not.

This is really frustrating. I can connect to the store via Win10 just fine and push downloads to my XBox One, but not being able to access it directly from my XBox is a huge problem for me.

Xbox S and Xbox X compatability?

I have tried to find this answer on MS sites without luck. Will a game that is listed in the MS store as "Xbox One X Enhanced" work on an Xbox One S?

Update: a hard reset of the XBox seems to have fixed the issue.
