    XBox One X with Yamaha RX-V481 - no 4K

I have the receiver in the subject. It supports 4k both through upscaling and pass through. It supports UHD, HDR, etc. However, my new Xbox one x won't recognize the 4k TV on the other end of it. Firmware on receiver is fully updated.

What gives? Will my only choices be to either connect direct to TV and lose surround or buy a new receiver? How to know which receivers are compatible?

    :)

yamaha rx-v583 and Xbox One X

Just got my xbox one x and connected it to my yamaha rx-v583,

rx-v583 is connected to my sony KD-55XE9005 (us name X900E)

Everything in the xbox menu 4K TV details says ok, but when switching to 4K UHD

the picture disappears and later a message from xbox saying 4k is not supported.

Plugged in the xbox directly into the TV hdmi port and everything works fine,

but that will kill the Dolby Atmos support.

4k mode is set to 1 in the advanced setup menu.

What could be the problem ?

  3. XBox One S wont recognize UHD capability

I was looking through the online manuals for both your Yamaha receiver and your Samsung TV, and I think I found the problem.

Your Yamaha RX-V575 does not support 4K@60Hz, according to the HDMI specs in
this page of the RX-V575 manual
. It is only compatible with 4K@24/25/30Hz, which seems to be why the Xbox is not properly displaying 4K while connected
    to the Yamaha receiver.

I suggest you plug the Xbox directly into the TV's HDMI port, and use an optical cable from the Xbox to the Yamaha receiver if you have a sound system set up.

  6. I'm having similar problems with a Pioneer Elite SC LX501. Should support 4K upscaling and pass through. I have all video upscaling turned off and passing through to an Epson 4040 4K projector. When I remove the receiver from the equation, it is 4K brilliance.
Plug into the receiver and the screen is blank. I"m arguing with Pioneer support about the length of my (brand new, high speed for 4K) cable just professionally installed.

Either the XB1X needs to modify how it recognizes the HDMI handshake - or specify exactly what needs to be supported - or - Pioneer Elite needs to update it's pass through capabilities. Firmware was updated today, no luck.

Really hacked on this. My media room setup is awesome and this was going to be the crowning jewel but it won't send a signal through my receiver to the Epson projector. If anybody has done this successfully I am dying to know how!

  7. UPDATE: Bought a HDMI signal booster and Shazam! 4K beauty!! I had a 10m HDMI cable and the receiver just didn't have the juice to push a 4K signal that far. Bought this bad boy and have played Assassins Creed Origins all night! Best 25 bucks I've ever
    spent!
