Xbox One X will not load games or apps, and will not install Fortnite Chapter 5

It seems that you are experiencing issues updating the game with your Xbox One X. Let us help you get to the bottom of this.

Based on the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, it's possible that there may be issue with the game and best address to the game developer support team. Before we will get there, we can try the troubleshooting steps below:

First, try clearing the cache on your Xbox One X. To do this, hold down the power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds until it turns off. Then unplug the power cord from the back of the console and wait for 10 seconds. Plug the power cord back in and turn on your console.



If that doesn't work, try resetting your console to its factory settings. This will erase all data and settings on your console, so make sure to back up any important data before proceeding. To reset your console, go to Settings > System > Console info > Reset console > Reset and keep my games & apps.



If the issue still persists, we suggest to provide feedback and use the Report a Problem app on the Xbox console to report an issue or unexpected behavior in a game or app, which helps Team Xbox investigate and fix problems on the Xbox console. Part of the content of this package is not installable. Look for ''Forza horizon 5 Expansion One'' and ''Forza Horizon 5 Expansion Two'' in the Xbox app or the Microsoft Store app and try to install.

I originally just had flight simulator installed which wouldn’t load up (as if frozen) I’ve installed War thunder which does the same thing. But when I installed it on the Xbox one it worked. So I started downloading online games only on the series X none of them load up e.g Enlisted, Fortnite and war thunder. But Day Z does work.

Yea so they don’t load up at all.

It’s as if something has stopped my series X from accessing online games..

One thing I personally cannot say for certain is if those games loading from the external hard drive will run the same way they would if they were installed straight onto the console...

If you load games on the Series X or S from an external hard drive they will load the same as they do on a regular Xbox One. There won't be any performance issues. Games installed on a external SSD (SATA SSD not the Expansion Card) will load faster then
they would before due to the much faster I/O on the Series X/S.

If you move your games to either the internal storage or the optional Expansion card, you will see significant loading speed improvements. They'll be massive on a game such as Odyssey. Fast traveling in 5 seconds rather than 40 on a regular Xbox One or One
X!

To use the Series X/S 'Quick Resume' on Xbox One or other BC games will require said games to be installed internally or to the Expansion Card. Series X/S games can only be installed on the Internal or Expansion card.
