Xbox One X updates for games

No Man's Sky has had many updates for the PC version, but the XBOX updates are far behind. Wish this could change, anyway to help?

Are updates mandatory for Xbox One X?

The Xbox One X Game updates for the 4K HDR content are mandatory. A lot of the game that have been release previously before the Xbox One X release will require an update.

The reason that so many games that are on Xbox and PC are so different when it comes to patches/updates is that a developer can push out a patch on PC and nobody has to test it. With consoles the patch has to go to Sony/Microsoft and they test the patch,
if they feel the patch isn't good enough they will reject it and tell the developer to try again, it can take between a week and a few months for patches to go through.

There are exceptions to this, for example Sea of Thieves, but on the whole this is reason.

 

It's a fairly common practice to update a title on PC first then push out updates to console and/or mobile platforms afterward, since the changes, for the lack of a better way to phrase it, have to be ported to the other platforms. I would venture to say
that it's unlikely the developer is going to change this. However, it will probably catch up eventually and will only be one or two updates behind.
