    Xbox One X unable to do 1440p @120hz on VIOTEK GNV32DB


    Viotek GNV32DB Monitor is brand new and can do 1440p on 144hz through DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0. Ran my PC through HDMI 2.0 and it was able to do 1440p 144hz through the port. Claims on their website it can process Xbox one X at 1440p at 120hz.

    Ran the same cable to Xbox one X. Xbox is Unable to find 1440p on auto detect under display settings. Manually inputted the Video fidelity to overscan to override HDMI. Disabled freesync 2 on Xbox and the 1440p @60hz appears. The 1440p@120hz option appears as well. Clicked to change refresh rate to 120hz. System tells me that the display is unable to do 1440p at 120hz but this is simply false. Definitely a bug in the Xbox! Please help!

    Will Xbox series x/s have more monitors that run 1440p @ 120hz than current gen consoles?

    That doesnt answer the question is it going to work for older monitors that are hdmi 2.0 that didn't run at the 1440p 120hz they were supposed to run at on xbox one x i bought a viotek monitor gft27db was supposed to run 1440p 120hz over the hdmi 2.0 but
    it doesn't on the one x only runs at 1080p 120hz with freesync on or 1440p 60hz no freesync will series x solve this issue thats what he wants to know i have heard it was a bandwidth issue but with the new console having higher bandwidth i would guess it would
    solve the issue but would like to know for sure

    That monitor supports 120hz ONLY at 1080p, and 60hz at 1440p according to the companies website. That would be why you cant select 120hz at 1440p

    Many thanks for your response but I'm afraid you are mistaken. HDMI 2.0 has always supported 1440p at 120hz. Even the article you sent says this.

    "The HDMI 2.0 connector was previously featured on Xbox One X and Xbox One S, with bandwidth limitations locking content to 4K resolution at 60Hz, or 1440p at 120Hz"

    So my question remains How do I get 1440p at 120Hz on the xbox series X with the huawei mateview gt34 monitor that is capable of supporing this?

    You will need the Xbox Series X for 4K 120hz. The Series S can only do 1440p 120hz

    Error on xb1x selecting 4k

    The Xbox One X supports 120hz only at 1440p and 1080p resolutions. It does not support 120hz at 4k. So unless your TV or monitor supports 1440p resolution (many don't), you will only get 1080p when selecting 120hz.
