Xbox one X turning off when starting large games

    Xbox one X turning off when starting large games


    I've had an Xbox One X for about 2 years now and haven't had any issues with it up until a month ago.

    I don't have any issues in the game lobby but whenever I load into a new game of either fortnite or COD: Black Ops Cold War, my console will shut off without any warning. It has only happened with games that require a lot of power to run, I haven't had any issues with playing Rocket League or watching Netflix.

    I've taken my Xbox apart and cleaned all the dust out of it, moved it to a more ventilated area and factory reset it but it's still shutting down everytime I try to start a game.

    I've had an Xbox since the 360 days and have never had any issues like this before. My warranty ended several months ago and sending it into Microsoft will cost a couple hundred dollars.

    Unfortunately, after looking into it, it looks like I'm not the only one who's had this problem. If anyone has a fix though, please let me know!

    I am familiar with this issue. A lot of owners of the Xbox Series X had been having this issue. I own a Series X myself, but in my case, thankfully haha, the console does not exhibit this behaviour. But this happens due to a hardware issue, it is advised that you trigger your warranty and send your Xbox to Microsoft.

    Click on the "Enter" option, it will take you to your registered devices page, select "more details" in your xbox, then it will take you to a page that will inform your console warranty, below will have the option "Start Order" then, just follow the steps from there.

    My Xbox One X fan sounds like a jet about to take off when I'm playing games, it sounds silent when I'm just sitting on Xbox home or watching Twitch or Netflix, but soon as a start up a game it gets loud sometimes it even causes my Xbox to turn
    off on its own while I'm in a middle of a game ....
    If you play a Xbox One X enhanced game it's normal for the fan to be louder than when on Xbox Home or watching video apps like Netflix or Twitch.

    However, the console turning off is not. Can you check if your console is directly connected to a wall outlet, or if you use a power strip? Can you connect the console directly to the wall outlet? If possible, also try a different wall outlet.

    Go into Settings

    Turn Power mode to Instant-on,

    Uncheck the box when xbox is off, turn off storage.

    This should allow you to turn off your console and it will continue to download while you sleep. This is what I do with large game downloads.

    Go to your menu top left of game click game options and turn off the large tiles. There are two sets of tiles for each theme, when the large tiles selection is on that's when you get the numbered tiles off are the original tiles.
