Xbox One X ''swoosh'' fan noise, is this normal?

I have a project Scorpio edition Xbox one x which I have had since release day.

Since the first day the console has intermittently made a swoosh type fan sound when playing games and using apps, this is more prevalent when playing games in 4K.

It sounds as if the fan is speeding/revving up for a second or two then quickly slowing down. I assumed this was normal and was how the console expelled excess heat from the system as usually it runs quietly.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether this is normal for the console to do this?

I don't have the Scorpio edition, but will tell you my X does the same thing with 4k enhanced games. Wolfenstein 2 seems to be the worst offender.

That is normal. that is the fan my xbox one x has always made a similar noise

Thanks for the reply. Its not a loud noise its just that the fan rpm goes up and down so much that it makes it a bit annoying. You can hear a swoosh sound everytime it changes speed. Its perfectly normal in dashboard, but in Red dead redemption 2 its doing
it all the time. If its intended I cant understand why they choose to have such a wonky fancurve

As far as I could tell with mine, it's normal since it has a different kind of cooling system (liquid cooling) compared to the other Xbox Ones.

My One X is typically dead silent. Only during games does it start to have that ebb and flow of a very occasional, brief burst of "swoosh"!

A "wooshing" noise, like gusts of wind? For the Xbox One X, this is normal, because it has a different kind of cooling system compared to the original Xbox One and Xbox One S.

My One X typically runs at a quiet hum, but when I'm playing enhanced games for example, I occasionally hear my console revving up the fan with a "woosh" to expel all of that heat, then it goes back to quiet for a while.
