Xbox One X stuck on update screen - factory reset not working - offline update not working

Good evening,

I hope someone can help we are really struggling with our Xbox One X not getting past the update screen.

Firstly my console is on the insider programme, I'll get that out of the way and my operating system is in the picture attached.

So all was working well until a few days ago in the morning I got a screen saying that I needed to update in order to use the Xbox online.

I followed the instructions and left it to update and got the above screen.

So far I have tried the following:

Checked the network connection: it is fine

Soft reset (hold down power for 10 secs, unplug for 30 secs)

Attempted the offline update but apparently this wont work as I am on an insider programme OS

Full factory reset

Apparently my only option now is to send it in for repair but I dont see my I should pay £200+ sterling for a repair that Microsoft has caused by putting me on a Beta OS that won't take an update. To add insult to injury I'd had just bought one years Xbox game pass ultimate which I cannot now use.

I have xbox one. The update was stuck at 50% for two hours..this is not normal i think. I boot in troubleshooting screen, and nothing works, offline updates with usb stick OSU1/ OSU2, factory reset, and nothing works.....i try everything.

Can you confirm what indicates that there is an issue with the hard drive?

Being on the insiders program seems to be the problem here. As I cannot do an offline update whilst running on a beta OS.

Poor customer service from Microsoft to roll out an update that has seemed to brick my device and then tell me I need to send it in for repair at my cost.

Unfortunately the only option here is a repair as the issue appears to be with the device hard drive. Since it isn't under warranty anymore I'll suggest you take it to a local departmental store so their repair department can fix it for you and you can take it home the same day.

However, sending it to Microsoft will cost the $200 that you already know. I'm sorry, I wish there was another way.

Yes, you can't do an offline update on an insider device.

But the error code you're getting usually occur when the hard drive itself is failing.
