Xbox One X static on startup and green screens for streaming apps

Tonight, I turned on my Xbox One X Scorpio Edition and tried to watch some videos on the UFC Fight Pass app. Unfortunately, the videos all had sound, but the video was just a green screen. I tried several videos and they were all the same. I then went
to YouTube and had the exact same issue. I then went to Hulu, and even the intro video was just a green screen, the menus came up, but then trying any TV show or video resulted in just a green screen with audio. I then did a full restart of the console and
the 4k intro video that comes up for the X, as well as the green Xbox loading screen were just static. Once the console booted, the icon selecting highlight was green, when I have mine set to yellow. This was across the entire dashboard, but if I went in
to any menus, it was the correct yellow, but going back out to the home screen, they were green again. I restarted again and got the static problem, but then everything came up on the home screen and it was the correct color for the icon highlight. I tried
some more videos on YouTube and green again. I did another restart and it was static again. I tried holding down the power button to turn the console off and force a hard boot and the intro video started to play, but then it froze and the console shut off.
I turned it on again, and static. I then did a hard boot, unplugged the power cable for about 30 seconds, and unplugged a USB cable from the front of the console and it eventually worked. I did poor troubleshooting as I'm not sure if it was an eventual hard
boot, removing the USB cable, or leaving it unplugged for a little while that eventually got the console working properly, streaming videos and all, but this may be something that other people have experienced and may be something that Microsoft should look
in to. Also, just to be clear, I'm using the provided HDMI cable with the Xbox One X, and I'm running it to a Sony XBR65X900E to HDMI port 3 with Enhanced HDMI turned on to allow HDR. Attached is a screen shot of the static that appeared during the boot
screens.

The scenarios described are stuck on green Xbox startup animation, or no green startup animation where my issue is green startup animation transitioning to black screen.

Interesting. My friend had the SAME issue and unplugged the USB fixed the issue. I wonder why. Maybe try different USB ports?

I told him to wait a week (which is this Sunday) and not use his external drive to see if It's the culprit.

We may be on to something! Without a external USB source he has had 0 issues (knock on wood).

 

I have this same issue. I had static on my Xbox whenever it started up and during the opening credits of Dead or Alive 5. I had a green screen when watching some game clips sent to me constantly for those clips until recently. Also, I had a green screen
when using Hulu and Netflix one day, but only that one day.

 

So it definitely sounds like there's some sort of cross talk between the USB ports and the video signal. I wonder if having an unplugged USB cable can cause the issue since I've used the X with my controller plugged in via USB and haven't had issues, but
turning it on while having a USB cable just plugged in to the front had issues. My external drive has been working just fine and hasn't appeared to cause any issues thankfully! I wonder if this is something that could be fixed with a firmware update or if
it needs a full hardware redesign. Either way, if this is the only issue with the console, I'm more than happy with it!

 

Which port was your friend's external drive plugged in to? My cable that was on the front of the console didn't have anything connected to it as I had unplugged my charging controller but kept the cable in the console like I usually do for my PS4 Pro.
My external drive is plugged in to the back of the console so I wonder if it's all ports or just the one on the front causing issues.

 

I believe it was the back port he said. Mine is the front same issue.

No issues since last update but we'll see.

 

Hey man. My friend had a issue with the power cable. Some people couldn't start up their X without a proper power cable, but he got the static supposedly from the power cable. Switching it out with the S power cable if you still have it might do the trick.

 

I had been working fine up until tonight so I just unplugged everything for about 2 minutes and plugged everything back in and it worked fine. Starting to get concerned about the hardware...I don't have the S cable anymore as I traded in the S toward the
X so this is the only cable I have. I suppose I could always try my PS4 cable if worse came to worse...

 

This also happens with my Blu-ray player.

And I don't have any external usb devices. If this was a normal computer, idI think the issue was overheating the video card. But this only happens to video not games.
