Xbox One (X) Startup Issue - started early October 2018

Hey guys. Has anyone else been having this weird issue with their Xbox One X:

Every now and then (very sporadically), it will just not want to turn on for me and instead throw me to the "Startup Issue" screen telling me to restart or wipe it.

The first time I got the message, I went through the manual install method (USB offline recovery) because when it wouldn't restart properly, I said
[Mod Removed - Profanity] and wanted to get it back ASAP

After about 10 hours of getting the right files/turning on the xbox finally correctly/having the update finally work. I was able to start reinstalling all my games

About 3 weeks later, same issue starts randomly happening. Luckily it's actually restarting ok if I unplug the power, plug it back in, and power on. (No Game in tray BTW).

After about another 2 weeks of it randomly happening, I realize it is probably because I have an External Drive plugged in for more game space... Now i realize that when the issue happens, i unplug the external drive, restart, and it comes back fine.

I'm thinking there has been an update that is not consistent with finding the first drive of your Xbox and is instead trying to boot first from the external drive (an issue that happens pretty frequently on linux systems). I'm thinking that instead of mapping
the UUID of the Drive you want, they are mapping the drive that shows up first physically on the system ....which for some reason is the external drive?

Well at least I hope that's the issue and I hope they fix it soon

Just a note: The latest time this happened to me - I was playing Overwatch and the game was acting VEEEERY slow. I then notice that it was my Xbox OS that was acting slow (very slow loading home, not loading all tiles, not loading all friends). So i restarted
and it brought me to the xbox startup error screen again. I unplugged the power and external drive, plugged them both back in, powered on, and it's like nothing happened..... it's very weird

 

Do a Power Cicle and switch your Xbox to Power Save mode. You can become an Xbox Insider to receive a new update, it may fix your problem too

Sorry that you're dealing with this peculiar issue concerning your new console.

That sounds like you might have some kind of hardware issue that could eventually turn into an "E" start up error.

In my opinion, if this is becoming more consistent of a thing, it might be best for you to get a repair order created for it either through

Device Support or through
Customer Support.

I always have it on power save because it's like an extra 30$/month with my power company setting it to Instant On. (As noted, yes i power cycled many times) I was an insider preview when it first started. I took myself out after it started just in
case the issue was an unstable OS update.

It is plugged in to a power stip. ... It has always been plugged in to a power strip though (as has my xbox 360 and previous xbox one, and on my one X since i've had it)

How would that effect this issue?
