Xbox One X Speaker Audio Settings Issue

Current setup: Xbox One X (via HDMI) -> Samsung 4K TV (via Optical) -> Bose Soundbar 700

    Hello All,

I recently switched TVs. Everything seems to be working great expect I cannot get my Samsung TV to pass my Xbox One X’s Bitstream on to my Bose Soundbar 700. I know it works because my DirecTV box is hooked up the exact same way and the TV passes its Bitstream
signal on to the Bose Soundbar.

Main Issue: When I go into the audio setting menu on my Xbox One X and attempt to switch from PCM Uncompressed to Bitstream, the Xbox shows it changed. When I exit the menu and return to check the setting, the Xbox has automatically reverted to PCM Uncompressed.
I’ve read of people having issues with Dolby Atmos resetting but not Bitstream.

Anyone have any idea on why this is happening?

    :)

That’s very odd. Does your amp accept HDMI? Maybe try running audio via HDMI to the amp.

If not, does the amp automatically adjust to the type of Bitstream format being sent to it?

Did you purchase the wireless sub to go with the soundbar? I did and it makes a massive difference! Especially after calibrating the system with AdaptiQ.

I have the exact same set up! I have a curved TV, I like them better, but I also have the Bose sound bar. I was completely disappointed with the sound bar, not what I expected from Bose for the price, it was not loud at all.

Xbox One X Speaker Audio Settings Issue

    Hello everyone

My xbox is connected to my onkyo (HT-R550) with a optical cable. With movies i get sound through all speakers but with games i only get sound through the front and surround speakers but not the center channel speaker.

    Xbox audio settings :

    Optical audio out > bitstream

    Bitstream format > dolby digital

Now i have tried switching to DTS but the center speaker still does not produce any sound.

The only way i got the center speaker to work was when i switched to stereo uncompressed but i am not pleased with the overall sound quality.

My question is is it normal for games not to produce sound through the center channel speaker when a xbox is connected with a optical cable to a receiver and dolby digital is selected on the xbox?

I think i answered my own question... 🤦‍♂️ I restarted the console and went into the audio settings, selected Bitstream for Speaker Audio, then selected the Bitstream format (Dolby Digital). This made the setting stay after exiting the menu and then
    returning.
