Xbox One X Snow/Static on Vizio M50-E1

I have noticed some odd snow/static on my Vizio M50-E1 while playing some games. I began notice it while playing Forza Horizon 4 and it seem to have an odd effect on the vegetation. The trees had an odd phase shift from really bright on some spots back to
regular as drove by around turns or making minor adjustments as a I drove. It's hard to capture in images but I also noticed this "snow/static" effect while playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and was able to reproduce it. The darker part of the binocular view has
this snow/static effect that flickers when in view.

In my Xbox One X settings, I have 4K UHD enabled > Allow 50Hz checked > Allow 24Hz checked > Allow YCC 4:2:2 checked. All checks are green except for Dolby Vision which isn't a supported version. I'm also using the supplied HDMI cable for the Xbox One X
so I'm not sure if this is just an issue with my display or this normal.

Has anyone experienced this with Vizio M50-E1?

*Note: The snow effect/static effect isn't pronounced when HDR is disabled I noticed.

Hello Nok,

Sorry for the issue with your display. You can try the
display troubleshooter. Also you may want to try a different HDMI cable and port on the TV.

Try these and let us know how it goes.

Hey Aiki Man!

Originally, specific Vizio 4K TV's only supported Dolby Vision and not HDR10. Just recently Vizio began rolling out firmware updates that includes HDR10 support for their 4K SmartCast M & P series TV's. For more information, please refer to

Vizio's HDR10 Firmware Information page. As noted on that page, this currently applies to M50-D1, M60-D1. P50-C1, P55-C1, P65-C1, and P75-C1. If you do not own one of those models, your TV may not support HDR10 quite yet and you may need to reach out to
Vizio support in regards to that.

Be sure to enable HDMI Color Subsampling on your TV if it is one of the model's mentioned above! Let us know how it goes!

Sorry to say, Hydro, the issue is continuing. Starting new threads will not help track this, nor will it help people discuss the HDR issue with the Vizio sets. I'm having the issue as well on my M50-D1.

So far:

Checked firmware to television is updated.

Checked that sampling was turned on for port 1.

Turned ARC back on.

Tried Microsoft and Vizio cables.

Tested 1080P through 30 minute sessions of Halo 5 and Forza Horizon 2 - no issues.

Tested same games at same time intervals - issues in Halo began almost immediately 4-5 min in, while Horizon 2 would take 10 min. Sometimes long black screen that went back to normal image, sometimes to static.

Reset XBox.

Wiped XBox.

Checked to make sure nothing was causing interference to cable.

More people are starting to have the issue - time to get cracking on this problem with the tv manufacturers.

I can also say that both my X One S had issues and now my X One X blinks randomly as well. I’m using a 55’’ Visio E55-E1 and almost unplayable in 4K. 1080p is fine but I didn’t buy the One X for 1080P.
