  1. Xbox One X Slight Muffle / Echo With Party Chat

    Hello, I've tried...

2 different headsets. (Both Astro A40 TR, 2 different editions.)

2 different headset adapters. (Both Astro Mixamp M80)

4 different controllers. (Day One wireless, Master Chief wireless, Gears Bluetooth & Scorpio edition Bluetooth none of which have updates available.)

3 different consoles. (Halo: Guardians big Xbox One, Gears of War Xbox One S, Scorpio edition Xbox One X also do not have any updates available.)

After testing every combination I've come to the conclusion the Xbox One X console is the only common factor in the issue below:

During party chat I hear other people with a slight muffle/echo, this is only present when the "Party chat output" is set to "Headset & speakers", firstly I have obviously checked that my external speakers are in fact turned off during this testing so it's
not that I'm hearing both the headset and speakers outputting the chat.

Has anyone else had this issue..? A friend of mine has the same model Xbox and headset without the issue, don't wanna have to resort to resetting the console but may do that tomorrow if there's no other solution.

Thank you Xbox One X Slight Muffle / Echo With Party Chat :)

    :)

Blue Yeti mic on Xbox Series X?

Hashbrown, I have the same setup with my xbox series X, do you have any issues with party chat and game volumes or echoing in the party chat? Do you have any idea if I can alter audio settings for the mic through my computer?

Mic Monitoring can't be disabled on Xbox Series X with Turtle Beach Recon 500 wired Headset

Is your voice heard in your headset at exactly the same time as you speak, or is there a slight delay from you speaking to you hearing your voice back?

The only reason im asking is that whenever a certain friend of mine logs into a party chat we always get echo, ie I speak and then hear myself a split second later. Its all down to his cheap headset, his TV is muted and yet we always get echo.

The best way to tell if it is your friends fault or not is to leave the party chat tab showing on the left hand side of the screen, and then you speak (while he stays silent), if your friends chat icon lights up green when you hear your echo then its something wrong at his end.

    Party/mic issues

As I understand you are experiencing echo issues with your party.

First, please make sure that you are using the boom mic with the headset. Using the internal mic can cause an echo issue at higher volumes with Xbox One.

If people in your party are complaining about hearing their voice echo back or strange squawk type noises, first try adjusting your "Headset Volume" in the Xbox Guide down one notch from maximum.

If you hear everyone else in your party echo when in party chat, it is likely due to the Xbox One being set to output party chat audio to both speakers and the headset at the same time.

    To change this setting:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select Display & sound.
    5. Select Volume.
    6. Select Party chat output
    7. Select Headset
You should no longer hear the echo.

    Mic Echo on Xbox One

it depends who is hearing the echo.

if you are hearing an echo then it is most likely that someone else in your party has their mic gain too high and has party chat through their TV or too loud in their headphones. check whose name shows when you hear the echo.

they would need to turn down party chat volume and/or change their mic sensitivity

    Headset Echoing

    Hi ABCD,

If other people in your party are complaining about hearing their voice echo back or strange squawk type noises, first try adjusting your "Headset Volume" in the Xbox Guide down one notch from maximum (try two notches if one doesn't work):

If you hear everyone else in your party echo when in party chat, it is likely due to the Xbox One being set to output party chat audio to both speakers and the headset at the same time.

    To change this setting:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    Select Settings.

    Select All Settings.

    Select Display & sound.

    Select Volume.

    Select Party chat output

    Select Headset

    Hope this helps.
