Xbox One X Shutting Down

After a few minutes of RDR2, my console will turn off. I can turn it back on, but I've never gotten any error messages. I've restarted, done hard resets, wired in my internet connection, uninstalled and reinstalled
the game, changed power cords, cleaned out the vents, removed and retrieved my profile, disconnected and reconnected the internet, cleared the Blu-ray drive, nothing is fixing the problem. RDR2 is the only game this happens with. It's not an overheating problem.
The console is not hot at all. Help! This is ONLY for RDR2. Rockstar tried to help, nothing is working

Hey Fabrice, thanks for the response! What I've tried that helps is try to do a

soft factory reset (while keeping games and apps) . Alternatively follow these steps but the console continues to get hot and shut down, request
a repair!

We suggest (if it hasn't already been done) a reset of the console
since the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a
Soft Factory Reset(while keeping games and apps)
Before resetting your console make sure of the following:

• There is a stable network connection.
  
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)
  
  
  

Only difference on this step is that I suggest to do uninstall
RDR2 first and then perform the Soft Factory Reset. Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup let's do
manual setup.

Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

 

This did not work. The console still shuts off after about 3 minutes of gameplay. I'm at a loss. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing has changed. This is extremely frustrating. How can I elevate this problem to someone or a team that will be dedicated
to correct this issue? It is totally unacceptable that NO ONE has a solution. I fully expect this problem be taken care of immediately. It has been a full week now.

 

Hello Tarheel,

We recommend if you haven't done it, to unplug the console completely for about 15 minutes. Then plug it back in make sure you plug directly into a wall outlet then try the game.

The 15 minute unplug and plug into the wall did not work either. I have rearranged my tv/gaming area trying to get this problem fixed. I've spent hours and hours uninstalling/reinstalling, resetting the console, restoring factory settings, unplugging and
waiting, contacting Microsoft and Rockstar, and I've followed every single instruction perfectly. I cannot see how this problem is not resolved yet

At this point then you may need a repair, being you have tried most of the troubleshooting. You can set one up online at

Device support. Or you can request a call back and then talk with a support agent to help you set up a repair. It could be something with the power supply inside the Xbox one X.

When you go to
Contact Us to get it to request a callback follow these steps:

• Step 1 ----select Xbox One
• Step 2 ----select no thanks, then select category system update
• Step 3-----gives some troubleshooting or help tips
  
• Step 4 ----select request a call from support

Once they call explain the issue and they will be able to help you.

I knew this would be the next step, BUT I also have an Xbox One S and the SAME THING HAPPENS ON THAT CONSOLE. I have moved RDR2 from internal memory to external, and tried to play on my Xbox One S....3 minutes later the console shut off. I have eliminated
every possible cause on my end. This is either: an OS issue or a software issue from Rockstar. I've been troubleshooting with them as well.

If that is the only game that it is doing it with, you will not need a repair. It could very well be the game itself I talked with a few here that play it, I haven't got it yet unfortunately, but they say their console also runs pretty hard while playing
but it don't shut off. Try a few games see if it does it with them. If not you can wait for an update for the game and continue to work with Rockstar.

From Rockstar: Well, we did tried all possible options and if the Microsoft Support team is not able to resolve this issue as well, I would suggest you to try checking with the console technician and explain them the
situation. May be they would be able to ti figure it out what's the exact issue.

So Microsoft and Rockstar are now both telling me it on the other party. Either way. RDR2 is unplayable because both my consoles shut down after a couple minutes. I can't get a refund for the game now. So I'm out $100
and still cant play the game

Sorry to hear you have been running into this problem, It definitely sounds like such a headache of a problem. By any chance have you been able to play the game on a different console while logged into your account?
