    I recently bought my Xbox One X from a friend (barey used, he bought it from best buy). He owned it for two weeks and it was in pristine condition. I’ve had it for a little over a month now and everything has worked fine. Last night, I started to play
    For Honor and it was working perfectly fine and then all of a sudden it shut down. Upon restarting the console, I recieved an error message saying “The xbox is designed to shut down automatically due to poor ventilation.” I tried starting For Honor ten more
    times after the shutdown and I couldnt even get to the start screen before it shut off again. I then got a milk crate (the ones with huge holes on the bottom), put the xbox on top of the crate with it flipped over, put a fan on the inside of the crate with
    it blowing air straight up, and I still got the error code. Come today, I played for two hours (perfectly fine) and it shut down. I then called my local microsoft store and they started to help me troubleshoot the issue, but I don’t believe that’s the problem.

    Please see the information below for the correct ventilation for the console. Also I think Xbox One is supposed to shut itself down if it overheats.

    Insufficient Ventilation Problem

    I have an Xbox One that keeps shutting down due to insufficient ventilation. I have it and the power supply out in the open and even have a fan pointed towards the system and supply, and it still continues to shut down. Is there something I can try or would
    this be a system failure?

    I'm very sorry to hear about your console issues. My best advice would be to purchase an air can, and when the console is unplugged from the mains, to use the can on the power supply vents and console vents, to clear anything that may be constricting the
    airflow. Also, try following the troubleshooting steps on this page, to see if anything improves the situation: Ventilation for the Xbox One console

    If you continue to run into issues with your console, it may need to be sent in for repair. You can start a new service order, here: https://devicesupport.microsoft.com/

    Idk if you’re unfamiliar with the fahrenheit model of temperature, but 70 degrees is not warm. That’s considered to be average to slightly cooler than the average home in the US. 72 degrees is considered the standard indoor temperature.

    Yes, there is plenty of space at both locations where it has occurred. There is nothing “blocking” any vents other than the cords for the console itself.

    check the vents on the side and top of the Xbox to see if they are blocked with dust as that could cause this issue.

    Im not paying £240, i might as well buy a new xbox but i cant get a hold of one at the moment so im stuck with this hot garbage , my guess theres a mechanical issue with the fan or the vapor chamber, im on the menu of a game and its outputting a ton of heat
