XBox One X settings for Samsung 4K TVs with One Connect Mini Device

Sharing with you my troubleshooting so that other Samsung 4K TV owners can troubleshoot more easily. I have the 65KS9000 model of TV (one year old), when I connected my Xbox One X last night and checked video settings, it said that my TV is 4K compatible,
but that signal will be upscaled to 4K rather than native 4K. It also had compatibility issues with 10 bit and 12 bit color and 24Hz and 50Hz settings. I thought that it may be due to the One Connect and its cable and called Xbox Support for assistance.
Then called Samsung and was finally able to find the issue. To get your Xbox One X to display optimally go into your Samsung TV's Settings, -> Picture -> Expert Settings and scroll down until you see HDMI UHD color. Make sure this is "On" for the HDMI port
that your Xbox One X is plugged into on the One Connect device. You can also enable HDR+ in the other Picture settings section if you wish, though the Samsung displays HDR10 natively and doesn't need the extra HDR of HDR+. Now my Xbox One X is displaying
images like intended and not upscaling from 1080p as it was doing initially. I hope this helps.

    :)

Opinions on what device would be best for streaming...

    I have ps4 pro, XBOX ONE X, Samsung KU6300 4K tv and a roku premiere+

Would all these devices have the same quality when streaming apps such as Netflix, NBA League Pass, NFL Sunday ticket etc or would the xbox one X be the best because it has the most powerful hardware of the devices I listed? My internet speeds are Fios 50mbps down 50mbps up. All the devices are Hardwired into the modem except the ROKU which is on wifi.

And one more question that might be a dumb one but I am curious.. I have the Samsung KU6300. 65" 4K TV has HDR but I dont think its full HDR capable. I have the xbox one x setup for 4k resolution right now. Would lowering that to 1080p on the xbox one X have a negative effect? I know the graphics would take a hit but do some people actually do this still even with a 4K tv??

Bought Samsung NU8000 TV....cannot select 1440p on XBox One X nor see Frames Rate drop down menu.

Bought Samsung NU8000 TV....cannot select 1440p for a resolution in the XBox One X settings....nor see the Frame Rate options drop down menu under the resolutions menu. The only options I have in the XBox One X resolution settings is 720p, 1080p, and 4K UHD.

And before you ask...yes the XBox One X is directly plugged into the TV....without any other devices attached to the TV nor the XBox One X.

  4. XBox One X settings for Samsung 4K TVs with One Connect Mini Device

Good tip, and it works the same on my LG OLED 65E6V 3D tv. You have to activate the HDR to get the proper results. I get all the green V signs telling my my TV supports everything there is on this list, but still i have a problem on my Xbox One X.

After a week of normal use and no problems with HDR and games like the new Assassins Creed, Forza 7, and Gears of War 4, i suddenly get the problem that the screen turns black (but sound also dissapears), and after a second or so, it will return to normal.
Sometimes this happens in intervals from between 1 to 5 minutes, and also sometimes it takes a longer time to get the screen back to normal.

I never changed anny settings, i turned on the HDR on HDMI socket 1 (the one i use for Xbox One X)

    Setup:

    Xbox One X.

Monster cable HDMI Ultra HD Black Platinum.

    LG OLED 65E6V 4K 3D tv.

I tested if i have the same problem if i play a HDR 4K movie, but no frame drops, it never turns black and then back on. So only when i play games with HDR support. When i play GTA V (does not have a 4k/hdr update) i can play normaly. All games that don't
use HDR play normal. Oh, and the first week of use, i also did not had any problems with HDR games, it happened just a few day's ago, but the screen turns off and back one more frequently now.

Would be nice if i would have a update or find out if i need to send my Xbox to Microsoft or not.

  5. I found my problem: At some point i have checked the option "Allow YCC 4:2:2" at Display & sound/Advanced video settings. After unchecking, my 4K/HDR games work fine, and no more connection loss with my TV. So be sure to see if it is checked. When you select
this option, the Xbox explains that this option will help out 4K problems with some tv's. Since mine has no problems with this option unchecked, it does not need to be turned on.

I hope this info also helps out other gamers. So if your tv does not work properly with 4K HDR games with this option unchecked, you might try to turn this option on, and see if that helps.

Mine still has issues sometimes. Never had an issue with my original Bone or the S, only the X. If I try to change resolution to 4k, screen goes black then no signal. It will revert back to 1080 if I leave it. But if I left & A, simulating the yes confirmation,
it then says it is 4k.

My Xbox One X certainly puts out 4K HDR to my Samsung 4K TV. Not sure why you are fishing.
