    Xbox One X - Screen Capture looks washed out


    I am trying to screen capture up to 1 hour of game play on my Xbox one X using a Samsung T5 external drive and when I view my footage it appears very washed out.

    Is there a fix for this?

    Hi Jonjon, thank you so much for reaching out.

    The hard drive is formatted in NTFS by computer prior to connecting it to the Xbox one X.

    I am connected directly to my router getting over 20 down and 8 up.

    No hardware changes done to my one X.

    I am Jonjon here to assist!! Before proceeding, I do have a couple of questions for you!

    • Was the drive formatted prior to you attempting to take screen captures?
    • How is your WiFi speed? Usually the screen is washed out because of bitrate loss, which is mainly caused by WiFi
    • Have you made any hardware changed to the Xbox?

    Anyone know how to fix recorded game clips looking grey and washed out?

    If you set the recording resolution to 4K SDR instead (Settings > Preferences > Capture & Share), does it still look washed out?

    I think it must be a bug with the Xbox apps. My Netflix and 4k UHD discs used to look great. Now they are looking washed out on the S and X.
