Xbox One X Scorpio Got it yesterday played for an hour and it had an electrical fire and broke

Hello, I just received my new Xbox One X Scorpio from NewEgg I had been waiting for for months and it played well for about an hour and suddenly it just shut off and there was a heavy electrical smoke/burning smell coming from inside where the power cord
connects on the xbox. Now I am out $500+ and all xbox support says is we can send you a "like new" xbox one x in 8 to 10 weeks which is complete crap I never had this bad of a product and service before. Especially in the first day!!!! :/

What would you guys do ?

Xbox One X Scorpio with frozen video screen during 4K disc play

Just an FYI post.. My Xbox One X Scorpio 4k player did not work out of the box. During 4k disc play the video would freeze while sound continued to play.

I initially thought it was a setting, but after an hour and 1/2 on the phone with Xbox support, it was the console. Exchanged it today and my new Xbox One X works perfectly..

 

Conference call

I have a fire bee grenade mod and of course the bee shields. I also have a conference call that has a damage of 5707 x 7 and I have the regular one, plus I have the corrosive, electrical, and fire ones.

 

The console is 2 days old and is well within the 1 year warranty period.

It wont be like new it will be new. Call 1-800-469-9269 for support in the US.

Also, I believe Newegg has a return policy as well.

 

I spoke with xbox last night for 4 hours and they couldn't do any better than a like new refurb console which I will never do and spoke with newegg this morning and they cannot do anything for it and cannot even make an exception to that no return policy.
I will just have to tell xbox support look I have been playing xboxs for over 10 years and if you treat people this poorly with equipment that doesn't last I will be glad to pickup a new PlayStation 4 Pro and switch to them. I have over 500 people I play with
on here and I can easily tell them to not buy a new xbox one x and just switch to play station with me. This is just sad and pathetic. I'm sure Playstation would love to hear many people were considering switching and have a big reason to now if xbox doesn't
help here.

 

That sucks that Newegg has changed and gone downhill so much over the last few years. They *used* to be a pretty good company.

There's no reason to balk at a refurb. The thing hasn't even been out a week, so it's not like you're going to get someone's 2 year old roach filled console in return. That's how many electronic companies handle warranty claims these days. It's much more
efficient and faster for the customer for them to send you out a previously repaired console and then start the repair on yours at a later date. If you had to wait for them to repair the same console that you sent in then it would easily add a few weeks to
the process. The wait time sucks, but it sounds like that's really your only option. I can say the couple of times I had to send in a 360 for replacement though, they were pretty quick to get the refurbished one sent out. The longer you wait to ship it though,
the longer it's going to be before you get a replacement.

 

There's no way they'd do a repair on his unit after a fire anyways. The RRT team needs to look at it and do an investigation on what caused the issue in the first place. So they would need to send him a different console anyways.

So the fact that he's stating that he won't take a different unit (at this point refurbs are just spare stock set aside for replacements) is odd.

 

You are out a Scorpio, sucks, I know, same boat. But Microsoft stores should exchange them if you have one nearby

 

Ouch. Return to Newegg and try to find a standard edition is probably your only other route to get one faster.

Edit - saw the post about no return policy. That’s insane, I used to buy everything from there, but not any longer.

 

You are probably overreacting about the refurb. Most refurb units at this point are new but won’t come in a retail box. Even if not, a refurb unit has been hand checked and inspected for complete operation. A lot of people actually seek out refurb products
because they have been repaired and run through extensive hand testing to ensure operation before being sent out and often have as good or better life spans than new units. I fully understand your frustration though and would feel the same in your situation.
