Does anybody have any good suggestions for dealing with extreme fan noise on the Xbox One X?

Here is my dilemma. Pretty sure this isn't "normal" fan noise. I've read enough posts of others with fan noise that leads me to believe the early XBX runs didn't have enough quality control. Some were great, some weren't. People have gotten replacements
and claimed vast improvements in sound.

I'm out of warranty, so I can't request a free repair.

It's the Scorpio edition and the paid repair indicates I may get a "refurbished" replacement. Which is not good for a limited edition item.

I don't want to pay $250 for what is pretty clearly a manufacturing issue. Even though mine manifested late, like the RRoD, this is clearly not normal and not from use/abuse.

I *really* don't want to go weeks without being able to play a game. Since it is out of warrant, getting one shipped before I ship the defective unit back is not an available option to select.

    ---

In short, I don't think I can send this thing back. As a collector's item, I don't want to give it up. I don't want to buy a new X and stash this one away with Scarlett so close to the horizon. And I don't have a good option for official repairs. I've
scoured the web for "unofficial" fixes and my google skills are coming up short. Has anybody else had any luck dealing with fan noise on these units? Recommendations? Links? I'm mildly annoyed I can't get it repaired, but I accept that a warranty has to
have a time limit. I just want to get myself into a usable/playable place again, by any means.

    :)

It depends what you are doing. With some games the fan will ramp up. I have a Scorpio edition, it's in the Xbox Insider Preview program and depending on the build, can depend on how much it ramps up. If the console is only warm to touch and there are no
sign of overheating, then I wouldn't worry too much. Just ensure your vents are clean and clear of any obstruction.

    Hi Galiher,

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. We understand you having issue with loud fan noise. It could be just dirty, you can try a can of compressed air. The reason scorpio edition is hard to repair at this time, is they don't have an abundance of
them. There were only so many made, this is why now you most likely wouldn't get it back unless they was able to repair it. If you have a Microsoft store near you, they may be able to help you. Keep in mind for future console purcahses, with a new console
purchase you have the option to get
    Microsoft complete
this is 2 years of warranty for around $49.00 US.

    Thanks,

    Brad

Yeah. No MS Store near me. Middle of nowhere Montana. I usually can't even get companies to commit to extended warranties because shipping costs kill their margins. :/

    Hello cgaliher!

Thanks for reaching out to Xbox forums support.

I'm sorry to hear about your Xbox Scorpio Fan noise issue.

Considering the all the circumstances, there really isn't much we can do.

I would suggest referring to the YouTube video comments section to see what has worked for other gamers.

It's not a matter of worrying. I should be able to watch Hulu or Netflix or play Ori without the fan being so loud that it is a distraction to everyone in the room (especially watching TV.) Ignoring it isn't a good solution even if heat isn't an issue.
