Xbox one x scorpio edition dead after 20 mins of play

All issues point towards just the Scorpio Edition... I've read through countless threads of dead Xbox One X's, but none of them are for the 'normal' ones. I'm currently in the process of sorting out a return for mine. I'm so disappointed

 

Yeah I have noticed this too, i sent mine back today , hopefully i will get another but im going to wait it out for a while and wait untill the issues are fixed

 

Also just to add i never ordered a project scorpio, i got a note in the box saying they have sent me one instead of a standard version, kind of wish they did send me a standard one if the issue is only scorpios

 

Have a regular xbox one x with LG27UD69P monitor. Worked fine yesterday did update, played one game for 5 mins and turned off. Started today and only blank screen. Changed cables and settings. No luck. Welcome any thoughts. Thanks.

 

Holy Crap!!! My Regular (I'm assuming) Xbox One X comes this Friday. Hope it's ok, sounds like the 1st batch are defective. If so that is a terrible start for our Xbox One X!!!

 

Today I contacted the German Xbox support, got a UPS return label and sent it back for repair or exchange. So I simply reconnected my Xbox One Day One edition and wait, absolutely no problem for me. Day One product adventure. You simply must not buy it if
you are "not amused" in case of issues. For me it is only another administrative task, and I keep smiling about this. I see it as my first "game" that I played (and am still playing) on my new toy

 

Mine has also died and wont switch back on, contacted support via chat and they said i would get a phone call yesterday but nothing yet.

 

Can`t really see how it can be just limited to the Scorpio Edition as the only difference between these and the std console are external cosmetic differences.

More than likely though that the first production run of the X was the Scorpio console and there was a bad batch of components somewhere along the production line. These things do happen.

Look at how many car manufacturers issue recalls involving tens of thousands of vehicles due to faulty components. Also look at how many house fires (including many fatal ones) there have been here in the UK due to the sale of faulty tumble driers, fridge/freezers,
etc.

On forums like these you only tend to get posts from people who have had problems and non from the people who haven`t. More than likely that the number of satisfied customers far outweighs the number of dissatisfied ones.

Until MS publish an accurate figure for failure rates no one actually knows how widespread the faults are. I should imagine that it is actually a very small percentage when compared to the overall sales figures.

 

Oh well, I've got a Scorpio edition and mine works just fine. Played all sorts of games on it since Tuesday for hours and hours. The console does not get really warm. There's warm air blowing out on the back but overall it only has one hot(ter) spot on top
and that's it. So I guess there's a specific batch of Scorpio editions that runs into this issue.

 

Mine is also a Scorpio Edition. Had it on for six hours solid yesterday (I`m off work all week) including a full fours hours on Halo 5.

Quite a warm spot on the top of the console and very warm air venting from the rear, no different to my 360S.

And it is extremely quiet, virtually makes no sound at all during game play.

 

One dead Scorpio Editon here too. Had the console powered up for about 8 hours, first 6 downloading a game, and then after a hour or two of playing the console just turns off and now will not power back on. Tried letting it cool down proper, tried a different
power cable and outlet .. nope, just stays dead.

I have kind of the same problem as other people. My console has shut itself off 3 times and yes it's well ventilated. It stands in the open on top of a TV bench.

After some reading on reddit some people suggested trying out a different powercable so I've been using my Xbox one S cable for 2 days without the console dying.

I also saw a thread about a guys console catching on fire when playing assassins creed. Should we be worried of having the console in instant-on when not at home? Should I return the console or send it to repair?

 

This is exactly what happened to me. I was playing a game of Madden 18 and it just turned off. I tried everything you said as well - nothing. It just makes the startup sound and the light comes on for about a second and then it shuts off.

Plugged into wall outlet (Y/N): Plugged into same power strip I’ve been using for Xbox One for a couple years along with LG Oled 4ktv, and Onkyo receiver - never had any issues.

 

My disc drive just went bad after a week. Taking it to gamestop as soon as they get new stock in. This is sad.

 

anyone else had a xbox one x fail? I took the risk about a week ago and purchased another, and to my suprise it broke again, same problem as my first one, the second one lasted a little longer maybe 20 hours of play, i honestly thought i was an unluckily
one with the first xbox one x i got but to say i have owned 2 now and they have both broke by the same problem that is pretty shocking or im seriously unlucky, got a full refund on this one and sadly im giving the one x a miss now
